My experience spans across individuals, families, and groups within a wide array of therapeutic settings over the past decade. I use an integrative approach that supports not only my client’s willingness, but also their motivation to change. Concerns with life transitions, relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief can all be shared freely in this space. Additionally, my work and passion in the counseling field concentrates on sex therapy. Through the promotion of sex positivity and sex affirmation, those I work with can safely discover, explore, and examine their sexuality.

If white knuckling, self shaming, and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps worked, you’d be “cured” a billion times over. It doesn’t. At least not for me or people whose brains are different. Our minds race and it feels impossible to turn off and rest. Sometimes we use substances or other behaviors in a harmful way just to get through the day. There’s more to life out there. A more peaceful and meaningful life is possible. We need to go deeper and get to the root of things. I’ll go with you.

After 35 years practicing as a clinical psychologist I have come to understand that effective treatment must be determined specifically for each client and applied in a respectful and cooperative manner. Treatment choices are made based on the uniqueness of the individual, his or her goals, and current life circumstances. They may include behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, in-depth therapy, or couples and family therapy. One treatment modality is not appropriate for all.

Some of human suffering is about the way we experience the events of our lives rather than the things themselves. Therapy offers an opportunity to bring awareness to our experiences and change our relationship to them rather than try to change the events themselves. Through this approach, we gain a sense of control in our lives and positively experience and influence its direction. If we believe that we have power within us to achieve health and happiness, then the events in our lives that cause us pain and suffering can be seen as an opportunity to learn about ourselves and experience personal growth.

I believe how humans experience growth and how they change are the big themes of psychology. We grow and change through our relationships with others, but sometimes we can get stuck in certain relationship patterns that cause distress. Uncovering the dynamics of these patterns, how they affect our self-concept, our feelings, our understanding of others, and our nervous systems can be healing. Practicing new patterns of emotion, thought, and behavior, whether through talk therapy, mindfulness practices, or a combination of both, can assist growth and change toward more compassion and connection in our lives.

I work with couples and individuals and specialize in anxiety, relationships and trauma. You are inherently wired for deep, meaningful connection, but the experiences you've gathered throughout life create barriers, making it difficult to experience the ease and flow of truly connected relationships. This can shape how you relate to others, and can lead to patterns of protection. Together, we’ll explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, helping you cultivate greater self-awareness, heal wounds, and build the fulfilling, connected relationships you deserve.

My belief that each of us has the potential to heal and transform, guides and informs my work as a therapist. I help people overcome anxiety, deal with depression, and emerge from trauma. My therapeutic approach stems from extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - including Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma.

I am trained in Marriage and Family Therapy. My work is primarily with couples and the dance they create that is unique to them. Each couple is unique so I try to individualize the ongoing treatment. Families come in to clear up communication and better understand how each person fits into the family dance and how all the moving parts have to have a pattern that defines this family. Each family creates its own ballet!
