I enjoy working with individuals and families who are on the journey to find themselves and on the road, to becoming a better self. My approach is to work together and provide support to my clients in order to identify solutions or improve skills that may be present but have not been used. Therapy does not have to be boring or stressful, this is a no judgement zone where humor is also encouraged. I am fluent in Spanish and am open to working with the Spanish speaking community.
I have worked with individuals, families, and children in various settings. I have approximately, 5 years working with individuals who have battled with a substance use disorder along with 3 years of working with children and families in settings such as outpatient, inpatient, and have prior experience in CPS.
I have special training in motivational interviewing and my integrated theoretical orientation to counseling is Virginia’s Satir strength-based theory that focuses on the communication patterns, self-esteem and self-worth of an individual member. I believe that it is important to identify the innate internal strengths of every human (Metcalf, 2011).
