My background is a 1.5 generation (born in Japan, raised in the US), queer, clinical social worker. I have been working with adolescents ages 15+ to adults for four years providing individual therapy. I believe finding a therapist that you connect and feel seen is key to healing.
My specialty is working with clients that have a history of complex trauma, chronic illness, and navigating burnout. I use a variety of treatment modalities: narrative/somatic therapy, EMDR, and exploring practical, holistic options (sleep, diet, exercise, nature time, and nurturing social support). I find that the simplest things can be the HARDEST to do.
It's a tricky thing to show up for yourself in a busy world filled with demands especially if that was not modeled for you. I welcome clients that are BiPOC, bi-cultural, immigrants and/or LGBTQ+, I know it can be a challenge to find a therapist that is culturally competent and understands all your identities.
