Maggie Carroll Vaughan
Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT, PhD
I most frequently work with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression and relationship concerns. Common goals of therapy include boosting self-worth and assertiveness skills; improving communication, connection, & intimacy in relationships; developing strong coping mechanisms for managing worrry, angst, sadness and self-doubt; clarifying and surmounting personal and life goals (i.e., forming meaningful relationships, career acceleration, improved health) and mastering life transitions (i.e., new parenthood, job change, relationship break-up, retirement). Therapy with me is highly engaging and collaborative.
My approach is interactive and integrates attachment, existential, humanistic, emotionally-focused and cognitive-behavioral theories and interventions. Clients gain insight into the causes of their behaviors and relational dynamics. They develop effective coping mechanisms for tolerating and minimizing uncomfortable emotions and learn to establish and nurture meaningful relationships.
