I practice counseling from a trauma informed, culturally responsive, and somatically oriented lens. I believe that we experience our stressors and traumas at the intersection of our physical, cultural, and relational realities. I view each individual as the expert of their experience, including children and teens, and collaborate with individuals and families to support meaningful change. I believe that we heal best when we can attune to our emotional and somatic experience of the present moment in the context of safe relationships and work to create a secure space for processing the past and reorienting to the present and future.
I strive to develop an understanding of how my clients’ lived experiences shape their orientation to safety and connectedness in the present. As my clients learn to attune to safety within the therapeutic relationship, my hope is that they will develop the inner resources they need to step more fully into their authentic selves outside of counseling.
