Hello! My name is Emily. I am a pre-licensed clinician under the supervision of an LMHC at Compass Social Skills and Counseling. I have worked with children and families for nearly 8 years. I have experience with a range of ages including children as young as 5, adolescents, teens, college students, and young adults, as well as parents and family members. I have been seeing clients virtually through a Telehealth platform for over a year now and have found so many wonderful benefits to this new modality, and find that kids are far more adaptive and responsive to virtual than originally imagined.

My favourite thing about my job is meeting with clients who want to work together to accomplish their goals, through big steps or small, whether they believe that they have the necessary tools and skills yet or not. I love working with clients who show up to try their best and who want to learn how to understand themselves, their strengths, and their challenges. I want to walk with you through the hard things, the funny things, the scary things, the exciting things, and the never-thought-I-would-feel-this-way things.

I enjoy working with individuals throughout the lifespan from infants through grandparents. I am truly passionate about working with teens and adults who are managing anxiety, depression, and stress.

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker. I've received both my undergraduate & graduate degrees in Social Work. My high energy and attention to detail are helpful for clients to open up and feel safe in a therapeutic environment. I believe with time and patience, clients are able to learn techniques and coping skills to develop a stronger sense of self. Therapy sessions are very individualized, some sessions are more processing/discussing problems or successes, and other sessions can be more skill based for problem solving.

I have extensive experience in a wide range of areas including issues related to anxiety, depression, substance-use disorders and trauma. I work with individuals and couples. Many of the people with whom I work do not take psychotropic medication - I believe in the healing potential of psychotherapy along with non-pharmaceutical adjuncts (e.g., movement, pursuit of passion, nutrition and related self-care), when appropriate. My framework is primarily psychodynamic. I aim to work at a deep level.

I work with children, adolescents and their families. These families are varied and come in all the different ways families are made. I offer a lot of practical experience with problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution. Home work is often a part of my client session to be completed in between visits.

Everyone has their own story and therapeutic journey. My practice beliefs are based on the idea that there is no "standard" therapy process, and instead, should be person-centered. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to process life stressors and to explore, strengthen, and maintain skills in order to better manage symptoms of trauma, depression or anxiety.

No matter how hard you try, you just can't shake the feeling that the other shoe is about to drop. You can't stop overthinking things and the worry is all consuming. Your mind is so busy mentally rehearsing all the what-ifs and worst-case scenarios that you are mentally drained and physically exhausted. It's hard to share these thoughts with others because no one seems to understand why you can't "just stop worrying." You try, but nothing seems to really work.

I have experience working with clients ranging from ages 4-25. I provide and focus on techniques such as coping skills, self-esteem, cognitive behavioral therapy, friendship building, and social skills. I enjoy using creativity to develop an individualized approach that engages my clients in a comfortable environment!

I have 25 years of experience, assisting people who are adjusting to a life stressor, those with depression, anxiety, relationship difficulty, trauma, and addiction, and people simply looking to be a healthier version of themselves. It requires courage to take steps to improve one's situation. My approach is geared toward an individuals personal motivation, whether he or she is just beginning to contemplate change, is open to learning new coping strategies, or understand and shift patterns of behavior that are no longer effective, and that prevent them from enjoying life.

I am a licensed mental health counselor at Compass Social Skills and Counseling in Wrentham, and school adjustment counselor. I work with children and teens using individual counseling techniques including CBT and behavior therapy.
