My focus and expertise in treating substance use is based on a
family
systems approach, working closely with the
family
to empower each member to be informed, supported, and effective in making changes in their own lives and in their relationships, working toward recovery.
Substance abuse and dependence can impact all areas of a being, mind, body and spirit, and must be treated using an approach that addresses each of these areas. I have over 35 years experience as a treatment provider, educator, and advocate, helping individuals, families, and organizations address issues of substance use, abuse, and dependence. I co-authored The East Side of Addiction, have written and published articles on addiction in journals, and present at local and international conferences on addiction and recovery.
