women's issues
and life transitions.
I provide clients with a safe, supportive & respectful therapy/coaching experience. I’m there to listen. They can share “stories, past, present, life stresses/transition, mental health issues, family/couples goals” etc. I build upon clients strengths as we work together to achieve their goals. As a therapist & life coach I strive to provide my clients with a positive experience. Treatment concludes with them feeling better about themselves & having met "their goals”. The passion I felt when chose this field, early on in high school, still remains:). Through challenging times I’m grateful to be here, to help those in need.

As a psychologist, I offer individual therapy for adults and college students facing a range of issues. My style is warm, engaged, and collaborative. Together we create realization, connection, and understanding that lead to deep and lasting change. My clients generally want to improve quality of life, strengthen relationships, and create their lives and families with intention. I often help people reduce anxiety, improve their relationship with food, cope with fertility struggles, and recover from trauma. Mostly, I just enjoy working with anyone who wants to reflect on, and grow from, the inevitable challenges life presents.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I believe that therapy is not necessarily about fixing things or oneself, but an act of self care. My current focus is on helping clients working through various life transitions, including loss and grief. As I see it, there are many different losses in our life; not necessarily losing a loved one, pet or possessions, etc. Over time in our life, we all may experience other losses, such as our expectations, goals and dreams. The goal and process of therapy can be viewed as “mourning one’s losses”.

Our lives consist of welcome routines and happy memories, turning points and challenges. Sometimes it is painfully difficult. Perhaps you have experienced the loss of a dream or a loved one, or been unable to move past a traumatic event. Maybe life feels like a daily rut, void of meaning or joy. Even in the company of people who care about us we can feel alone, sad or overwhelmed. The good news is we can find connection, experience change and move through pain and struggle to a place of greater freedom and happiness.

Over the years as a therapist, I have found that the common theme amongst my clients is not their diagnosis or their problems but their deep desire for Calmness, Clarity & Connection. They seek therapy because something is not right in their lives and they want to find a better way. The ingredients to healing are found in these three elements. Whether it is through individual therapy, teen support/skill building, The c3 Method or even within the audience of my public speaking events, my clients engage in a process that leads them away from their struggles to a place of Calmness, Clarity and Connection.

I hold a space of safety, confidentiality & upmost respect for my clients, the stories they have lived & their hopes for personal transformation. With my youngest clients, counseling is a collaborative process of shifting challenging habits & behaviors, or removing roadblocks impacting school adjustment and family harmony. I work in partnership with caregivers to take actionable steps, teaching skills & strategies to help children and adolescents thrive. With adult clients, we uncover patterns & behaviors causing pain, address trauma, shame, identity, or relationship issues; anything impacting optimal wellbeing.

I believe that a collaborative partnership between client and therapist is the foundation for healing and growth. I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds who struggle with anxiety and depression, life transitions, grief, and the effects of stress on their lives. While much of my experience has focused on supporting women in various stages of their lives, I seek to provide an inclusive, nonjudgmental, safe space for all clients to explore their inner lives and external stressors. I bring focus to client strengths, practicing self-compassion, and cultivating joy.

I work with adolescent girls and young women (15-25) with a specialization in self esteem, anxiety and depression. Through my 18 years as a therapist, I have come to believe that every challenge or trauma we face in our life is an opportunity for healing. Whether you are wanting a safe space to reflect on day to day challenges (friendships, dating, adjusting to college) or are looking to learn coping skills for managing overwhelming feelings, I am here to help. I don't see a therapist as someone there to "fix" a person (because people are not broken) but as someone to help guide you back to your internal resiliency + intuition.

Are you feeling stuck, or overwhelmed by your daily life? Are you yearning for more? I believe that one of the most healing things that we can do for ourselves and for the world is to show up as our authentic selves in all aspects of our lives. I feel that it is when we are not, that we see the most challenges. I am here to support you in breaking down ineffective behavior patterns or unhelpful perceptions in order to increase your connection to yourself and your own purpose. In my experience, once we are truly connected to our inner light, we shine!

I work compassionately with generally high-functioning adults who may be experiencing a range of potential symptoms that diminish their mental and/or physical health and well-being. These may include anxiety, perfectionism, and performance challenges; self-esteem and self-worth; overweight and disordered eating; managing chronic disease; grief and loss; depression; relationship challenges with friends, partners, and family members; and life and career transitions that may include finding meaning in life. I often work with people who simply find life is easier when they have a non-judgmental connection outside of their usual circles.

We all long for our experiences, feelings, and needs to be seen, recognized, and honored. I bring to our work deep respect for you and/or your child’s concerns and suffering. I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work, which I approach with curiosity and empathy. I am most interested in what your unique experience is, and I aim to listen deeply. A safe-enough space will help us to transform your patterns of experience that interfere with your ability to be compassionate with yourself, to build meaningful relationships, and to work and play creatively, in other words, to live a fulfilling life.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
