I believe we all have a soul that is radiant and beautiful. Our souls are currently embodied in human form for two reasons: to manifest our soul mission and to experience the fullness of life. If you are not on track with your soul mission or are not getting the desired results in some area of your life, then there must be some type of interference pattern causing a misalignment between the conscious, unconscious, body and/or soul levels. The methodology I developed, Healing from the Body Level Up, clears these interference patterns from all levels quickly, painlessly and permanently.

Eager to understand your "true-self"? How are you managing your energy investments? Does your mind consume you? We shall walk together down this and many other paths of inquiry. Being curious is not something that is done, it is an experiential state or a way to "be". Holding the moment in a patient, kind and bonded manner we will share the responsibility to look about at what we find. This will foster the ability for you to commune with the intelligence in your body-mind-spirit. Be informed authentically. The decision to begin therapy, with all of it’s exciting possibilities for growth, is often made during a complicated or difficult time. I approach therapy from a solution focused lens. We will work together to help you take control of your life, by understanding the patterns that have been developed to manage uncomfortable feelings that have been firmly rooted from the past. We will work together to recognize your strengths, develop self-esteem, and strengthen relationships. Through a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies we will create change.

My approach is collaborative and non-judgmental, focused on helping you deal with pain from the past and deal with present challenges with greater ease and confidence. Psychotherapy, as I define it to my patients and students, is the collaborative inquiry between patient and therapist into the patient's patterns of interaction and patterns of expectation. This kind of study leads to greater personal and interpersonal freedom, which allows for the reduction or the elimination of symptoms. Psychotherapy can be of brief duration or an extended enterprise focusing on long term difficulties. The decision on which form of psychotherapy to undertake is usually based on an evaluation of 1 to 3 sessions, where a treatment plan is developed. I am interactive in my approach.

Glad you made it here…I would like to acknowledge that effort from the start. Are emotions driving your behaviors more often than you would like? Is the internal conversation you have with yourself becoming more hostile and critical? Are you finding time slip away onto a phone, bottle, or other mindlessness? Are you looking for ways to find calmness, self-compassion, and connection? I am hopeful I can help you to ease your suffering.

About Motherhood
Psychologist, PsyD
Verified
Verified
This practice is based upon the reality that a mother’s wellbeing cannot be understood or supported without respect for her “mom work.” Mom work is invisible work. So - mom worry, mom anxiety, mom blues, mom guilt, and most especially, mom anger, becomes a negative judgment of a mother's "normalcy," rather than what it truly is: mom reality. Not a diagnosis, not “what’s wrong with me,” not an inability to do the work. Just mom reality, unsupported by respect for her work, and ultimately, unsustainable. Unless we push back to reclaim this ancient journey. You may wish to glance at my website to explore what I mean by this.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
