Female Therapists in Watertown, MA
Hi there, thank you for visiting my page.
You may be someone who’s thoughtful, sensitive, and outwardly high-functioning—yet inwardly overwhelmed, stuck in patterns of overthinking, self-doubt, guilt, shame, or a vague sense of “not enough.” I work well with clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, questions about identity and life direction, or the quiet exhaustion of holding everything together. In therapy, I offer a space that’s safe, steady, inviting, and nonjudgmental—where your thoughts and feelings can be safely unpacked, your needs explored, and your sense of self slowly reawakened.

If you are feeling stuck in patterns of overgiving, people pleasing, chronic anxiety, or feeling like there is no space for your needs in relationships, I'm here to help you reconnect with yourself and create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. Relationship patterns are often established early in life and therefore hold a tremendous amount of vulnerability. Using an eclectic approach, I integrate Internal Family Systems, mind body modalities, and creative expression to address the origins of the relational patterns as well as the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that keep these patterns from shifting.

I support individuals navigating eating disorders and disordered eating, athletes working through performance pressure and identity concerns, and therapists seeking their own safe space to land. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning and capable, yet internally feel disconnected or quietly overwhelmed. Often, they aren’t just looking for symptom relief — they’re wanting to feel more at home within themselves.

Telehealth and in-person. Whether you are thinking about or going through a divorce, or wishing to save your marriage, I can help you understand emotions, explore options, clarify your children's experience and facilitate your thinking and decision-making. I facilitate the creation of effective parental partnerships in or out of marriages. Do arguments over recurring topics disrupt your family life? Is your toddler having inexplicable emotional outbursts? Is it difficult to communicate with your pre-teenager? Is your blended family having unforeseen problems? If so, I can help you understand and effectively re-engage.

I know that there are challenges in each person's life and I strongly believe that talking helps. I engage those that I work with by using dynamic psychotherapy. This is an ongoing process of talking, thinking and feeling. As these elements are shared, reconsidered, and reviewed over time a deeper understanding of the self emerges. This understanding leads to more choices in one's life. I respect the abilities that people bring to the challenges of life and their capacities to make changes. I treat the person not the diagnosis.

I have over a decade of experience working with people from all backgrounds, with a primary focus on trauma and anxiety. I love supporting people with high functioning anxiety, "people pleasers," and perfectionists; and working with teachers, therapists, nurses, and others in helping professions to manage stress, burnout, boundary setting, and vicarious trauma. Many people who have struggled to find the right fit in a therapist have reported finding a good connection with me. My style is warm and friendly and I find humor a vital tool as we navigate challenging waters together.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
