Underlying a relapse pattern may be a trauma or abuse history.
Many people struggling with chronic alcohol or drug addiction have difficulty finding a way to create a successful path forward to become free. Sometimes we are trapped in our own belief systems that keep us from being happy and keep us abusing alcohol and drugs. I can help focus on a practical solution. I have helped people very new to recovery, and those with years of recovery still dealing with past issues. It is possible to be free from negative emotions and thoughts ruling your life. There is a path to healing and forgiveness for everyone. I have worked in outpatient , residential, inpatient, and hospital-based settings.

I find both specialties very effective in helping clients;particularly those with trauma in their histories.
I work as an interactive, psychodynamically oriented therapist and seek to help clients discover their own uniqueness; put to rest any outdated negative messages from their histories and move into full, and gratifying lives for themselves and their loved ones. I believe the therapeutic alliance is a partnership where both participants, with the help of my expertise and professional experience, work toward healthy, achievable goals in an atmosphere of warmth, nurturance and trust.

*Currently accepting new clients for telehealth* Life is messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful. So is the process of change. To be honest about this takes courage and vulnerability. It is also the first step in the process of personal transformation. By coming to therapy, you do me the honor of sharing these experiences for the purpose of personal growth and healing. I believe in a collaborative model of therapy where you are the expert on your life. By sharing together from a place of authenticity my goal is to listen, support, and challenge you in order to face obstacles standing between you and a fuller quality of life.

If you are looking for a warm, welcoming place to discuss any issue, thought, or problem you've been dealing with without judgment or closed-mindedness, then I could be a great fit for you! I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, and I'm licensed as a mental health counselor in Massachusetts. I have a very friendly, laid-back personality and am always eager to help and use a lot of humor in my general approach; however, I am also very comfortable working through serious and difficult subjects in a calm, supportive way. I'm a very happy, positive person and can always find a silver lining in almost any situation!

I have a special interest in trauma issues, especially those of public service and military personnel.
If you need direction and support solving a disturbing problem or managing an emotional state, I know that addressing this need quickly is important. I will meet with you within two to three days of your call. My approach to therapy is to focus initially on solving the problem in partnership with you quickly and efficiently. If this does not bring sufficient relief, I invite my clients into a longer deeper process of understanding the situation and its complexities. I encourage the use of communicating via email between sessions. I have evening and Saturday hours available to insure accessibility

Coming from a psychodynamic background, I have studied many mindfulness-based and trauma -related therapies, culminating in certification in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which provides a powerful framework for creating new, positive experience and patterns .
Therapy is a journey traveled with a guide, witness, and companion. Over 30+ years I have accompanied individuals, couples, adult children and their parents as they seek to solve problems, cope with transitions, create more satisfying relationships, improve self-esteem or heal from deep and traumatic hurts and losses. I am active, warm and collaborative, and work to create a safe and empowering relationship for exploring wishes and fears, strengths, goals and the obstacles that we encounter in meeting life's challenges. Clients tell me that I am a careful and accurate listener and have a calming, supportive presence.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological reaction that occurs after an extremely stressful event, such as physical violence or military combat. Those suffering from PTSD have recurring memories of the stressful event and are anxious or scared even in the absence of danger. Flashbacks and nightmares are common symptoms as well.
