I am motivated to help my clients learn realistic and self-compassionate ways to thrive. I am happiest helping my clients to achieve meaningful growth, at their own pace. I earned my Master’s of Social Work in 2015 from the University of New England, after earning my Bachelor’s in the same discipline from Wheelock College (now Boston University) in 2014. I enjoy working with people of all ages and types of neurodiversity, from preteens to elders. I am lucky to be a true people person! I have been fortunate to contribute to various interdisciplinary teams throughout my career in settings such as inpatient mental health facilities,

We all would like to believe that we can manage our individual hardships on our own. Many times, we are quite capable of doing so but some issues can be more challenging. Having the assistance of trained clinician can help you gain more insight; more peace and the ability to better problem solve. My name is Maurice Maher Cheffro, I started Bridge Forward Counseling with the sole purpose of helping others to begin their personal journey towards positive change and healing. I believe one of my best assets is the ability to meet people where they’re at and help them to feel more at ease in order to take steps forward.

The clients I work best with are adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, or major life transitions. They may struggle with overthinking, relationship challenges, burnout, or uncertainty about their direction. Many feel emotionally exhausted yet deeply desire clarity, confidence, and stability. They want practical tools to manage their thoughts and emotions, improve communication, and feel more in control of their lives. They are seeking a safe, inclusive space to gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Regardless of the times, the circumstance or the individual, building a relationship with trust, value and efficacy matters. We also believe that this can look different for everyone. Given that, it is important that prior to finding the right therapeutic approach that meets your specific needs, we must first develop a mutual understanding and rapport with one another that feels supportive in moving forward. Next, it will become our responsibility to listen and understand what it is you would like to address and what your goals are. Your voice, experiences, and perceptions will lead us through this process.

Quality of life suffers when you feel stressed, judged or used by people who are important to you. You look away from that emotional pain and cope - at home, at work, and in the world. In the process, you lose yourself and your dreams. If that's you, counseling can help. Most likely, there are patterns you are repeating. And, even if the people in your life are stressful, there's a reason you have those people in your life, and there are ways you relate to them that you can change. You can feel better. I can help.

It is my goal to assist you in reaching your goals! Congratulations on taking the first step, I know it can be intimidating to talk to someone about your concerns. FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
