I also have experience with adolescent substance abuse counseling.
At this time, I am NOT able to take any new clients. My ideal client is a person or family who is seeking change and who is looking for a therapist with an energetic, actively-involved, solution-focused style. When working with children, I use play therapy and will invite parents to play with us while teaching them what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. I will also teach the parents how to reinforce the same skills at home through play or other techniques. When working with teens and adults, I adjust my style in order to build a connection.

I'm a Spanish-speaking therapist who works with children, youth, and adults. I offer services in Massachusetts and Florida. I firmly believe that, before any other role, we all are vulnerable human beings with the ability to continue growing and changing. Starting therapy could open old wounds, awaken memories, and make you feel ashamed. Initially, it can be a heavy process. I understand that transparency, respect, and collaboration are fundamental. Yes, collaboration is key, but when fulfillment and growth occur, you're going to be at the point where you don't need me anymore. And that's another kind of personal success!

You are way more resilient than you may think! Let me help you through the process of change…whether you are (a couple) adjusting to a new chapter in your life, or going through a challenging time, my services can help you by providing a safe space where you can sort through your thoughts & feelings. Talking out loud about what is going on in your mind, even if you do not think it makes any sense, and explaining it to someone skilled in active listening, helps clarify the things that may be challenging you. Putting things in perspective. Releasing tension. Coming up with a plan. These are the just some of the benefits!

Are you an artist who is surrendering to life's challenges that prevent you from what's possible inside of your craft? Like: up all night worrying, constantly at loggerheads with your partner, have a lot to say to the world but don't know where to start, or you've reached a block or dead end in your creativity. You want time and energy to create your jaw-dropping art! And to have happy relationships with your partner and your kids, sleep well at night, contribute something to society, and have time to fully enjoy your life.

Hello, I’m glad you found me! I chose a career in therapy to offer support and a safe, therapeutic space for the queer community because it was something I would have liked to have had as a young person growing up. I enjoy working with teens and adults dealing with issues of acceptance, interpersonal conflict, chronic mental illness, and life transitions. If you’re looking for unconditional positive regard balanced with healthy accountability (and some humor for good measure), I’d love to work with you.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
