I specialize in helping parents heal any wound that is impacting their own ability to be the best parents they can be. These wounds could be due to your own childhood experiences, postpartum depression, birth trauma, relationship difficulties with partners or co-parents, pregnancy and infant loss, and health issues for yourself or your child. Maybe you are not able to identify a wound that requires healing; instead you recognize that you are constantly feeling overwhelmed by parenting and other responsibilities and you would like help sorting through mental and emotional clutter to improve your parenting ability.

Life is not always easy and we may not always be aware of what tools could help us during difficult times. Sometimes we just need support to help us navigate through a challenging time. You are not alone. As a therapist, my goal is to help clients become the best versions of themselves. I have assisted clients in processing and integrating trauma, reducing frequency of panic attacks, developing better coping and self regulation strategies, and reducing their shame.

I have a warm, accepting, and down-to-earth presence. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration in which I can assist in guiding you towards greater self-understanding and tap into the wisdom and resilience that already exists within. I have experience working with clients living with anxiety, depression, stress, symptoms related to trauma, and addiction issues. I particularly enjoy working with individuals navigating a transition or stage of life change and those looking to better understand and shift from patterns of thinking, behavior, communication, or of relationships which are no longer of service.

I work with adults, children, teens, their families and caregivers. I have a warm, attuned approach that supports each person's intuitive ability to heal. I am trained in IFS and Rhythm of Regulation and other modalities. People go through challenging times, losses, adjustment to traumatic events, oppression. Work with children often explores movement, art and expressive play focusing on emotion regulation and working dyadically with parents/caregivers. Therapeutically supported expressive play therapy provides safety that helps children communicate their needs, feelings, modify behavior, and increase problem solving skills.

Are you struggling to navigate life's challenges, whether related to relationships, self-esteem, chronic stress, or anxiety/depression? Perhaps you're seeking specialized counseling for areas like sports/athletic performance or coaching to achieve health & lifestyle changes or managing ADHD? While I do offer traditional talk therapy, I also offer some creative non-traditional opportunities including animal-assisted therapy with JJ, an emotional support therapy dog, or "walk & talk" movement therapy outdoors in nice weather. Therapy can be intimidating, and I strive to offer ways to help clients feel comfortable and safe.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
