With adults I provide a supportive environment to work on practical strategies to improve your life. Our main focus is on your present and future, but if past feelings, behaviors and situations are still getting in your way we explore what happened and work on creating healthier patterns. In working with children and teens I teach skills and strategies, and periodically bring parents into sessions. I have expertise to share, but you are the expert on your child ! We'll all work together to build on your child 's strengths, increase their confidence and solve problems at home or school.

I am bilingual in Spanish and work comfortably with children , adolescents and adults, from all ethnicities, cultures and sexual identities, who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions and parenting issues.
Compassion is the most significant and integral component of therapy. My goal is to create a warm, respectful environment in which clients feel comfortable exploring their innermost feelings. Genuine and empathic in my approach, I believe in the strength of the individual to face life's challenges and to create new patterns of behavior and communication. I also believe clients must have compassion for themselves. Such compassion will lead to greater curiosity of the self and acceptance of one's experiences. This, in turn, enables the individual to see more clearly, gain new perspectives and find new solutions.

I work with people who need additional support and guidance to improve their outlook and self compassion. We can often be our own worst enemy and therefore having someone objective to talk to can be a useful tool in achieving goals, improving mood and experiencing relief. Whether you are experiencing challenges in a relationship, as a student or working professional or are the parent of a child in distress, there are helpful strategies we can focus on to reduce symptoms and enhance functioning.

My work both as therapist and parenting coach is based on the belief that we are all capable of change and growth. The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of my work, providing a safe and accepting environment where people feel held and deeply heard. I work closely with clients to loosen old patterns, reframe challenging attitudes and beliefs, or heal layers of traumatic experiences. We all struggle with uncertainty; these days more than ever, we need support to develop an orientation that points to possibilities, curiosity and hope. As my mentor says: “If you believe you can break, believe you can repair”.

Check back January 2023 for availability. Psychotherapy can provide a caring and safe space to navigate life's many transitions and challenges -- both expected and unexpected. I approach my work from a place of respect, warmth, and curiosity toward my clients and their concerns. I help clients develop understanding and skills that allow them to reduce symptoms, facilitate personal growth, and make positive changes in their lives. Each client receives individually tailored treatment and, together, we identify and develop therapeutic goals. It is an honor for me to work with individuals on their personal journeys.

You want to feel better and do better in your life, and now, perhaps more than ever, you need someone – someone REALLY helpful – “in your corner” to help you turn things around. I’m willing and able to do just that. Together, we can do this: I use a range of solution-focused approaches: treatments that work (CBT, DBT, and whatever else works). We’ll figure out exactly how you’ve “gotten here,” plan a way out, and I’ll guide you along the way…as we activate your strengths and your inner resources to live a better life. I work with adults, teens, and families and I’m available immediately to give you the help you need and deserve.

I believe that therapy helps people move throught the blocks in their life that keep them from meeting their full potential. The therapies I use help disolve those blocks. It could be past trauma or the smaller traumas in life that leave us with negative beliefs that prevent full access to our core. Get to your core and change your life! EMDR, Brainspotting, Gentle Reprocessing, Hypnosis, TAT, other energy therapies will facilitate the healthy change you desire.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
