Do you find that you can’t stop thinking about events from the past? Do nightmares make the idea of going to sleep stressful? Or maybe you don’t remember your dreams, but you wake up sweaty with a racing heart? Do your friends and family wonder why you’re shut off; don’t want to spend time with them; or do the things you used to enjoy? Maybe you find yourself getting angry a lot more than you used to. Or find yourself thinking that, “If only I’d done such and such, then things would have been different”, or “It’s my fault that something/blank happened”. Or you’re avoiding certain situations, and it’s harder to function effectively.

Clients I’ve worked with longest include those in addiction recovery, couples facing relationship challenges, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals carrying past experiences that still take up space in their minds and lives. We all rely on what we know to find freedom, connection, and well‑being—but sometimes those strategies stop working. I help people discover new ways to connect—with each other and with themselves. Many adults now turn to AI for mental health support, but nothing replaces human connection, experience, and guidance for true healing.

Here, you will find sanctuary—a space where you will be seen and gently understood. You will be offered a place to rest, and unload your inner burden, as you journey at your own pace, into the parts of yourself yearning to be explored and healed. In a world that often rushes by, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, lost, or sad, especially for those who view life through a deeply creative and introspective lens. If you’re seeking a space where your thoughts and feelings are not only heard but deeply valued, you've found a welcoming place.

Current Openings! Depression, anxiety, trouble concentrating, behavioral problems, insomnia, interpersonal conflict, low self-esteem, and flashbacks are just a few symptoms that can be caused by underlying trauma. Most of us have dealt with trauma in our lives. A traumatic event could be one isolated incident, such as a car accident or death in the family. Some individuals have experienced pervasive trauma, such as an ongoing medical procedure or family discord. At Robinson Counseling and Wellness, LLC we have clinicians who been trained to effectively resolve the symptoms of trauma and provide a safe environment for healing.

As a mental health therapist, my first priority is creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and safe. I understand that reaching out for support takes courage, and I honor the vulnerability that comes with it. My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and collaboration. Most of us experience emotional conflict. Anxiety, depression, loss or seemingly impossible situations are among the challenges that interfere with our ability to sustain satisfactory relations at home, the workplace - and most importantly, within ourselves. Feelings of sadness or discontent can lead us unproductively towards substance dependence or persistent grief that overwhelms our lives. Obstacles such as poor self-esteem or past traumas are possible to overcome. Through sensitive inquiry, I encourage exploration of your thought process and resulting behaviors. While respecting your individual concerns, my overall goal is for you to achieve a sense of well-being.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
