I have found at the core of most behavioral, emotional, and mental discomfort is pain associated with earlier trauma or loss. What I offer clients is a safe space to create a healing of the past for both the mind and the body so that we can be more alive in the present moment. I will foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment to encourage healthy development in learning to relate differently to one's emotions and parts of self while becoming aware of conditioning from childhood that no longer serves you and creates self sabotage. This process is to help with all levels of disconnectedness so that healing can take place.

I specialize in treating depression in women. More recently, I have been working with caregivers, often women taking care of a spouse with dementia. By the time the caregiver reaches out for psychotherapy, (s)he is often irritable with her spouse, depressed and exhausted. That's usually where we begin.

You’ve done everything “right" - the career, the caregiving, the responsibilities - but somewhere along the way, you lost yourself. You’re worn down, overwhelmed, and starting to wonder: Is this it? I work with women in midlife who’ve spent years showing up for everyone else while quietly sidelining their own needs. My coaching blends mindset work, emotional awareness, and action planning to help you reconnect with yourself, name what you truly want, and start creating a life that feels like your own again - with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Life rarely goes as planned. When you've been hit with a major life event, such as the loss of a loved one, an affair, or the birth of a child, you may experience fear, isolation, sadness, or anger. Although life changes can be a source of excitement and growth, they often bring up unresolved issues, including perfectionism, shame, and past trauma. If you want to be able to cope effectively with life's biggest transitions, you need a compassionate therapist who specializes in your area of need, so that you can find peace and joy in your life again.

Step into a space where you matter, you are heard, and healing is possible. My method is grounded in the belief that resilience can grow even after the deepest wounding, and no one has to walk the path alone. As a survivor of violence, I understand the pain of trauma and the courage it takes to recover. For over 10 years, I’ve helped others explore the roots of trauma and emotional pain. Clients often say that they feel safe with me because of my empathy, compassion, and the safe space we create together. We will focus on reconnecting your mind, emotions, and body in ways that feel safe, healing, and empowering.

Are you a teenager...or maybe you just feel like one? Mood swings, spiraling thoughts, self-doubt—whether you're 16 or 46, it can feel like too much. Or maybe you're facing a loss, a transition, or relationship struggles. Whatever it is, you've tried to push through, but it’s not working. Yes, talking helps—and sometimes, you just need to get it all out. But that’s often just the starting point.

My career started as a volunteer at a suicide prevention lifeline providing support for individuals in distress, and I learned that being present for people in their most vulnerable times of need is one of the most humbling yet fulfilling services I could provide. I have also worked in residential care, university, and hospital settings. I am here to guide clients who are ready to produce dynamic change in their lives. I work with clients experiencing various challenges including trauma, challenging relationships, and life transitions to name a few, and how these factors affected the client and family systems.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

We all experience stress, loss, and other challenges at some point in our lives. When we recognize that we are unhappy with how things are going, we can chose to ignore the problem or do something about it. If we are ready to take action to improve our situation, then seeking psychotherapy can be empowering. It can help us feel validated and regain a sense of control over our lives. As a psychologist for over 30 years, I provide a safe, non-judgmental, supportive environment in which to identify and explore these concerns, develop coping skills, and establish goals to bring about positive change.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
