Over the course of my thirty-plus years of practice as a psychologist, carrying a family legacy of suffering during the Holocaust, I have come to believe in the power of compassion and human
relationship
, the possibility of healing from trauma and loss, and the existence of the uncanny and miraculous.
As a psychotherapist, I help clients better understand how we carry old wounds of hurt, loss and trauma into the present and how those wounds affect the way we manage our lives and relationships. Life stress--marriage/divorce, parenting, vocation, illness, loss--as well as the challenges of the lifecycle itself--young adulthood, midlife, senescence--can stir up old, unprocessed turmoil. Having been trained in psychodynamic, family systems and EMDR, I strive to attentively, compassionately and actively engage with my clients so that they might free themselves of old wounds and current impasses to live more loving and whole lives.

When we unlock our creative potential, joy can blossom and grow. As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I believe in the importance of the mind-body connection, and gently invite my clients to integrate breath, play, movement, music, poetry, embodied story-telling, art and other forms of imaginative expression into our sessions. I encourage all who enter our healing space to explore the innate wisdom of the body through mindful engagement, and discover one's own empowered form of expression.

I've practiced psychotherapy for over thirty-five years. Currently I work both with individual adults and with
couples
. When you first meet with me, I will want to understand what brings you to therapy. My style is interactive, and I believe that it is through the safety of the therapeutic
relationship
, that goals can be met and change can occur. Though trained psychodynamically, I am comfortable working in a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities. When long-term yearnings go unfulfilled, when we encounter inevitable disappointments; when life jolts us internally or externally; when relationships seem difficult, therapy can be enormously helpful.

CALL Office: Adults & Seniors: Individual & Couple: The imprint of trauma is psychological & somatic: long after the events are over, the body continues to respond as if danger were ever present. My professional mission is to bring this understanding of trauma to Adult and Seniors, as a psychotherapist, looking for answers to healing traumatic events. The key to healing is not just knowing what happened but transforming how mind, body, & soul still remember it. Trauma can reveal itself via depression, anxiety, despair, conflict ,lack of resolve, patterns of repetition ,worn out "survival mode defenses" from earlier times.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
