I am currently accepting new clients beginning in June!
Children
and adolescents often develop challenging behaviors as a way of expressing their inner thoughts and feelings that they don't have the words to explain. I help give youth a voice through creating a trusting environment where they feel safe to explore emotions, share thoughts, and develop solutions. I use unique interventions tailored to your
child
's strengths in order to foster a space where they feel supported and motivated to change.

I am currently accepting new clients. I work from compassion, strength-based, humanistic approach. I join clients on their journey and allow them to lead while guiding them when needed. I focus on play and art therapy with younger aged
children
. I believe that young
children
often know what they need to process and with support are able to do so through various forms of play. I combine mindfulness and grounding exercises with looking into your past and how those past experiences affect you currently. And through utilizing mindfulness you can sit with, understand and work through the feelings that are impacting you.

The decision to ask for help is not easy and requires courage. Part of the difficulty lies in choosing the right person to work with. All of us want to work with someone who cares, knows how to listen, does not judge, and ultimately is healing and can help in problem solving. In my 20 years of experience, I have worked with
children
, teenagers, adults, families and couples. I enjoy this population enormously. My biggest strength is my empathy. My clients feel safe with me; they know I am an invested therapist and that I truly care. I am passionate about love, compassion and equality. I create peace every day.

I have worked with
children
of all ages both individually and in groups in several different clinical and school settings and at various levels of care.
Whether it be social or emotional struggles, challenging behaviors, trouble relating to others in positive ways, or working through fears, depression, stress, trauma, or a family crisis, I meet every
child
and their family where they are at. I use a strength-based approach and interactive, hands-on, and creative interventions, including play and expressive arts, in addition to talk that allow kids to communicate freely, naturally, and in ways that build confidence and a sense of mastery over their struggles.

For the past 15 years I have worked with
children
, adolescents and adults with ASD, depression, anxiety and trauma. These individuals are often impacted by emotional dysregulation, which limits their potential and reduces their ability to participate and succeed in specific environments. My clients often internalize their perceived deficits and have identified themselves as being “less than” or “not good enough”. My work focuses on supporting abilities, recognizing strengths, honoring differences and valuing uniqueness while providing opportunities to observe their patterns of behavior that inhibit them from taking action.

If you are worried because your
child
is anxious, acting out, or pushing themselves too hard; you are having trouble communicating; things are going haywire at school or home, therapy was not a good fit for your
child
; or your
child
is returning from a wilderness program, I can help.
I offer home-based life coaching for teens, 20-somethings, athletes, adults, and their families in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond. I work with clients at home in a positive, flexible, proactive way, emphasizing measurable, practical, and sustainable change. My approach is relaxed, non-hierarchical, and results-oriented. Although I also work with adults, I primarily help teens and 20-somethings, from kids who lack confidence and/are overly stressed or anxious to those with athletic/academic performance issues or who are really acting out, having issues with anger, substance abuse, school refusal and the like.

In a grief-averse society that says to "get over" or "move on" from the death of a loved one, in a medical system that pathologizes bereavement as a disorder as early as one year after someone's death, in social circles that force toxic positivity, platitudes, and unsolicited advice on grieving folks, I long to offer a different presence. I come alongside traumatically bereaved
children
and families to offer meaningful and non-judgmental support in the wake of an unexpected or violent death, or after a prolonged illness. Death and trauma generate complex grief responses that deserve to be heard, honored, explored, and integrated.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
