Throughout life, we experience many transitions and challenges that are difficult to navigate. Sometimes, we need support in identifying and removing the barriers that can hold us back. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort between therapist and client and that we work together as a team to meet your goals. I utilize a strength-based, multicultural-informed and feminist lens to empower my clients to develop insight and bring out their inner resiliencies.

I find passion in helping clients find their sense of self and cultivate their identity. Folks looking to change and grow, get a handle on their anxieties or manage depression, or those wanting to improve their self-appreciation are those I feel honored to serve. In particular, I hope to help Queer folks on their own journeys - whether that be transition/identity exploration, relationship challenges, or otherwise! Currently, my focus has been working with older kids/teens through Child Therapy Boston. The clinic focuses on social skills as well as other needs and their website on my profile has more information.

Many people find me because something they are doing has become larger than they want it to be and is no longer working. It could be technology use (my special interest), substance use, pornography, working, or gambling, among many other things. Often these behaviors show up when people are experiencing stress, interpersonal conflict, insomnia, sadness, anxiety, existential crises, self-doubt, self-criticism, or the pain of high self-expectations, and so our work focuses upon these topics as well. I work with teenagers and adults in individual therapy, including some joint family or couple sessions as needed to support loved ones.

Instead of fighting problems together, you’re now fighting each other. You don’t know when this happened, but you no longer feel connected to and loved by your partner, and there are days when you find yourself thinking if maybe it would be better to end this relationship. Maybe it started when your child was born, or maybe you’re just now realizing that the two of you have somehow drifted apart. You feel you’ve tried everything, and nothing seems to help. You feel stuck and uninspired with being in a marriage that feels nothing more than roommates sharing the same bed, but you know you want more for your relationship.

With 25 years of experience, I do individual and group psychotherapy the young adult population and see middle-aged adults in individual and couples therapy. Ages 13 and up come here with issues around loss; relational difficulties; regulating moods; self-injury; sadness and depression; bipolar disorder; the coming out process; and understanding a history of childhood sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Adults often come in with marital issues such as infidelity and help and support going through the divorce process and for advice around dealing with their teenagers.

CALL Office: Adults & Seniors: Individual & Couple: The imprint of trauma is psychological, body and brain memory long after the events are over, one continues to respond as if danger were ever present. The therapy mission is to bring this understanding of trauma to Adult and Seniors, via integrated psychotherapy, looking for answers to healing traumatic events. Healing is not just knowing what happened but transforming how Behavior, mind, & body, still store it. Trauma can reveal itself via depression, anxiety, despair, conflict ,lack of resolve, patterns of repetition ,worn out "survival mode defenses" from earlier times.

I am passionate about working with adults 18 and older that are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or chronic illness. I provide a safe, accepting environment, using evidence-based modalities for change, and support my clients in the process of healing and becoming the best versions of themselves. My clients are resilient- however, having to be "strong" and in survival mode all the time is exhausting, and it's okay to let your guard down with me. I aim to support my clients in not only surviving, but thriving. My clients ultimately achieve a healthier relationship with themselves, others, and the world around them.

You know there is a badass within, but it doesn’t feel like she gets to run the show very often. You know you're burnt out but you keep pushing, because you know you can take it, that’s what you do. You are sick of the crippling self doubt ruling your life, forcing you to keep doing ALL. THE. THINGS. When did making decisions or being social require so much energy? When did the expectations others had for you, shape the life you are living now? You might wonder why you are so darn dependent on validation form others. You know you are a good person, you KNOW you are doing a good job; so why do you find yourself chasing gold stars?

Behind every behavior there is a feeling. And beneath every feeling there is need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause and not the symptom. We begin to heal.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
