I am passionate about working with individuals, couples and families as you navigate through life's challenges. There are so many potential bumps in the road, whether it be relationship issues, school or job stress, issues with self esteem, grief, or simply years of feeling like you are struggling, stuck or undervalued.

I work with individuals with adjustment problems, couples (using Emotion Focused Therapy), military veterans, and survivors of trauma.
My approach to psychotherapy is based on attachment theory which states that our first important relationships (namely, with our parents) influence how we relate to those closest to us now. As infants, we learn to do whatever is necessary, including distorting our thoughts and feelings, in order to maintain that connection. This early experience even affects brain development setting the stage for depression, anxiety and dysregulation. Fortunately, current relationships (including with a therapist) can provide a corrective experience. That is the beauty of psychotherapy - by understanding how our past affects our present we are better able to negotiate our future.

I provide a warm, supportive environment where individuals can feel that someone truly cares about their issues and wants to understand where they've come from and where they want to go. I only work with individuals (rather than couples or families) and can see clients who are at least 18. Sessions are Telehealth (video chat) only.

It is a true privilege to partner with my clients during their journey and have the opportunity to play a part in their healing process.
I specialize in helping people cope with the internal and external stressors of life. I do so by creating a safe space in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship. It is then that we can explore your personal experience while working to discover and strengthen coping skills to promote resiliency. My work is heavily trauma informed with roots in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Psychodynamic Therapy.

I work with adults and couples on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, life/career transitions, and relationship problems. My interactive, direct and collaborative style helps clients understand the cause of their issues and gives them practical tools to alleviate symptoms. While I tailor my therapeutic approach to each patient, I draw most heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is a well-researched approach to effectively treat many presenting concerns.

I can help you change your relationship with your partner , your family, a friend, or yourself! People are often challenged by difficult emotions or challenging relationships. Instead of facing this task head on, you may distract yourself with unhealthy habits like over-drinking, improper eating, excessive social media or video game playing. While these techniques may help in the moment, they can make the problem even worse.

I have over 12 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples , and families.
I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress.

What type of Natick mental health professional is right for me?
While most types of therapy have a lot in common, they also fall into clusters that share core features, such as cognitive therapies or psychodynamic approaches. It is important to seek someone who practices evidence-based therapy, meaning one or more forms of treatment that have been scientifically evaluated and tested, and demonstrate consistent improvement for a majority of patients.

If you are unsure about choosing the right therapist or psychologist, it might be useful to first learn more about therapy types and modalities.

How to find a therapist or counselor in Natick?
When looking to find a therapist, start by considering training and credentials. Studies also indicate that the therapeutic alliance, or the relationship the client develops with the therapist, is an important factor in their ability to work together to achieve the client’s goals.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Understanding cost and insurance coverage is an important concern for many people. With some basic research and conversations with prospective therapists, you should be able to have a good understanding of the best way to afford therapy.
