Welcome to OT Integrations. I am an Occupational Therapist with over 35 years experience. My specialty is Assessment and treatment of children and adolescents who experience sensory processing issues and have a history of complex trauma. It is clear that sensory strategies integrated with Trauma-Informed treatment provides the most successful intervention. Youth engage in fun sensory motor activities and develop an understanding of their bodies and the integration of their sensory systems. This promotes growth in developing the skills necessary for self-regulation and building competency in activities of daily living.

Hello! I'm Jodie. Although I have specialized in working with children and adolescents, I also work with adults who have experienced trauma or struggle with other stressors. Past roles include senior leadership positions for nonprofits in the state of Massachusetts. This included working closely with DCF, DMH, and DJJ in order to support children and families. One single approach is not suitable for everyone, so I take an integrative approach to therapy. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, Forensic Social Work, and Brief Therapy. I am also a master's Level Expert for CPCS. Public defenders can hire me as a consultant on cases.

"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference", as Virginia Satir said. My job is to help people explore their capacity for change, for strength, tolerance and insight. I am a long-experienced, licensed psychotherapist with a relaxed, supportive approach. Whether for managing mood disorders, or situational stress, grief or confusion, I tailor efforts for each individual client to help gain perspective and learn techniques and coping strengths for whatever life dishes out.

Accepting clients for Groups! Why be imperfectly tuned? Because we need to learn to let go of the idea of being perfect and become truly grounded in ourselves. Many of us are carrying hurts that hinder us emotionally and/or physically. The hurt can manifest in many forms such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief or loss.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychological Science with a minor in Professional Writing at Fitchburg State University. While earning my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Capella University, I was also navigating life as a mom to two incredible neurodivergent boys—an experience that gave me unique, firsthand insight into the world of neurodiversity. Over the course of eight years, I worked in residential settings with at-risk youth and neurodivergent individuals, which truly ignited my passion for this work.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

We all go through transitions. Sometimes it can be painful, overwhelming, and lonely. Whether you’re exploring sexual and/or gender identities, deconstructing or restructuring your belief system or changing jobs, it can make life feel unstable and dangerous (kind of like deciding to explore an eternal abyss). That’s where I come in. I’m here to help you cross whatever proverbial bridge you have in front you. For the past decade, I've worked with folks from 12 to 60 going through changes, such as gender transition, coming out, establishing beliefs, exploring ethical non-monogamy, couples identifying the next step and staying sober.

Change is an integral part of life. At some point or other, we all face changes. Changes can be very difficult. I strive to help my clients to identify and understand their needs and steps they can take to begin to promote positive change in their lives. Hi, I'm Miriam! I have been a therapist for over a decade and am Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), one of my primary modalities. IFS offers a non-judgmental approach to understanding the many parts of ourselves, each striving to help us navigate life. When these parts become imbalanced, they can contribute to challenges like anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or addictive behaviors. Through IFS, we work to free these parts from extreme patterns, fostering greater calm, confidence, and connection within the whole self.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
