Therapy should be easy, accessible, and tailor made to your needs. I aim to meet people where they are in their lives, navigate those struggles in a partnership, and help create a plan together for a solution forward. Most of my clients who end up in therapy, report feeling stuck in the mud, sometimes for many years. By working together, I hope to bridge this gap from feeling stuck, to feeling excited for the future. Many years ago, a supervisor told me, remember "you are seeing someone on their worst possible day". Life is hard, therapy shouldn't have to be. Book with me now by clicking on my website.

Hi, I'm Greg, Have you ever felt like the path your life has taken has not turned out the way you expected? Do you sometimes wonder why you don't feel the way you think you should, or worry that you may not be headed in the right direction? We all feel that way, quite often, and I've found that it often helps to talk through some of these things to help us feel more confident in ourselves, and in our lives.

Life challenges us in many ways, and sometimes we find ourselves struggling. We may lack a sense of purpose and find ourselves not enjoying life very much at all. Stressful events, over-thinking, and an unbalanced lifestyle can knock us out of our “window of tolerance” and decrease our resilience. If we don't take the time to slow down, life can become a rush of activity without meaning. We may feel anxious, disconnected, or depressed. Therapy is a powerful way to take that time for yourself.

Know thyself, wrote the Greek scholar. My aim is to assist you toward effective and functional self-understanding so that you might pursue and achieve the life goals of which you, as a unique person, are most worthy. Harry Truman had on his desk, whatever job he held, these 10 words: "Know right from wrong. Do right. Do your best." I shall always use these words in your service.

*NEW CLIENTS ACCEPTED via TELEHEALTH* Ever feel like you have a way to do something, and though it does not work the way it seems like it should, you feel it “works for you?” Do you find that you have a way of behaving and struggle to break free from yourself? I find that humans act in patterns. We think about a problem and act in a way that is the most comfortable to us and tend to repeat these patterns regardless of the result. I work with people living with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger concerns, separation/loss/grief issues, and people coping with discrimination.

As a clinical neuropsychologist I work with clients to identify areas of cognitive strength and weakness and relate those patterns to known profiles of brain-behavior relationship. The process involves an interview, collateral contacts, and carefully selected standardized assessment of brain and emotional functioning. A neuropsychological evaluation may help identify dementia, direct therapies after traumatic brain injury, or tease out ADHD from learning disorder and other developmental conditions.

Life is a barrage of experiences that informs our relationships with the people and the world around us. Our understanding of ongoing difficulties is largely contextualized by historical experiences as well as rigid thinking patterns, which can hinder one's interpretation. If this process goes unexamined, it can often impede the ability to be self-aware, open to emotional growth, feel connected to others as well as the general ability to be accepting of difficulties in life. Through our work together, we can develop effective methods examine thoughts, behaviors and emotional reactions to events, in order to live fulfilling lives.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
