I have been a therapist for over 15 years, and I'm here to help you through struggles and teach you techniques and coping skills that can help you manage your stress levels, communicate better with loved ones, achieve a balance between work and relaxation, and change patterns that no longer serve you. I have extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, couples and families and used evidence based treatments to bring about relief.

I specialize in providing neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults. I utilize a strength-based approach in my evaluations and work collaboratively with parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to best understand each patient. As your therapist I help you look at the story you have constructed about yourself and identify the beliefs and assumptions that have held you back. Together we gather insights and then develop a course of action to get your life back on track. I have a deep knowledge of how adult ADHD affects every aspect of one's life and every relationship in it. It is hard to feel competent when those around you feel they can't rely on you. Together we design strategies that employ your strengths and talents enabling you to produce the results you want.

My areas of expertise include: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance use disorders, ADD / ADHD , PTSD, maternal mental health and women's issues, adjustment disorders, and recovery from codependence.
I believe each individual has an innate wisdom and ability to heal themselves. Sometimes, we need guidance along our journey to provide us with the right tools to navigate towards wholeness and healing. I offer a unique and integrative approach to counseling that focuses on treating the whole person, not just their presenting symptoms. Therapy is a safe gateway to explore the root of our core wounds and trauma that has manifested into toxic behaviors and painful cycles such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and codependence. I engage in counseling with clients who are seeking a path of self-love, recovery, and wholeness.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
