This typically means understanding and changing behavior that doesn't seem to be working for you, improving existing relationships and developing new ones, conquering fears/anxiety, reducing depression and more.
My approach to treatment is interactive and engaging. I find that clients appreciate and benefit from an active therapist that will help identify areas of difficulty and work on initiating changes rather than a passive, primarily listening approach to treatment. A comfortable fit between therapist and client is an essential part of successful work together. Consistent with that, I'm happy to do a phone consultation so you can get a sense of how I approach this process. In terms of insurance, if you have out-of-network benefits we should be able to make therapy affordable.

Issues include: anxiety, depression , relationship, divorce, intimacy, parenting, ADHD, young adult and teen issues, substance use and trauma.
Do you want to transform your life? Do you long to live in a way that’s more vivid, poignant and meaningful? Are you hungry for an authentic connection with others? It’s the key operating systems that run us when we are making dinner, interacting with our family and tying our shoes. Perhaps you are ready for some new ones? Sometimes it takes life falling apart for us to become ready to seek a new path. You need courage to let go of what no longer works and that’s where I can help. I use a lens of core vulnerability to help people understand the role of defense mechanisms and a mindfulness-based approach.

Some “problems” include depression , anxiety, stress, trauma, marital or relationship issues, identity exploration (including LGBTQIA+), spiritual considerations, and career questions.
I founded Blue House Therapy (website under construction but it is up) because I believe we are all worthy of living meaningful and fulfilling lives. I feel so honored to be able to work together with couples and individuals in exploring and writing their next chapter of life. You may be seeking counseling because you are aware there is something standing in your way, we could call this “the problem.” There is a saying that resonates with me, "you are not the problem, the problem is the problem."

I'm a Jungian-oriented psychoanalyst working with people seeking to navigate the complexities and challenges of their lives, in particular relationships, issues of self esteem, depression and anxiety, and major life transitions. This work is about connecting more fully with our unconscious – both that part of it which binds us to the past and that which points to the future. The goal is that, over time, we develop a robust, self-reflective form of experience which breaks through the closed circle of outdated and self-defeating narratives, embraces agency and responsibility, and leads to a life that is full, authentic, and our own.

In my experience as a therapist, I have seen many people "right" themselves during critical and painful times of their lives. People often come to therapy in distress and confusion, unsure how to manage their current life circumstances or overwhelmed by symptoms related to emotional pain. Sometimes there are signs quietly trying to get your attention and other times it comes as a crisis. Sometimes it is others in your life that are calling for you to change. We will work together to develop clarity, identify solutions and improve your overall life satisfaction.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
