Whether it is anxiety, depression,
trauma
, or any other number of challenges, I am confident we can make a plan to succeed together!.
Life might feel entirely out of your control. Maybe the same thoughts are nagging at you, stuck in an agonizing loop of anxiety about job changes, relationship difficulties, body-image concerns, you name it – it’s all too much. Chronic stress, depression, and anxiety can lead to this feeling of “stuck-ness” that's really hard to handle. Finally, you’ve decided it’s time to prioritize yourself and work through personal challenges that have been on the back-burner for years. You’re ready to breathe again and have that “inner peace” that got lost along the way. It's time to get un-stuck!

Currently I have a couple openings for private pay clients. Otherwise I am limiting my practice to group work for women with
post-traumatic stress
disorder as a result of childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional). I have been leading survivor groups for the past 30 years and have seen such powerful positive changes and growth that it has become my most successful form of working with
PTSD
recovery. If interested email me at trcgin@comcast.net. I am interviewing now for a Spring group, time and day to be determined. Group members often become lifelong friends. Willow my resident therapy dog will make you feel welcome.

My passion is working with children 10yo & under who experience anxiety, depression,
PTSD
, family transitions, grief, & disruptions in attachment. I utilize dance/movement, music, storytelling, play, and art therapies to help children engage in the therapeutic process and heal. Through activities, children are able to freely express emotions and learn to self-soothe using the techniques that naturally help to learn about themselves and the world around them. Parent training & family therapy are also frequently used to support caregivers in responding to children with high emotional needs. By promoting trust & security in the caregiver relationship alone, many symptoms can improve.

I have experience working with a variety of clients and presenting concerns including, but not limited to
trauma
, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and adjustments to life changes.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor my belief is that each client has within them the ability for positive change and healthy functioning. I consider it a privilege to hear clients' stories and strive to create a safe and collaborative environment in which we can explore strengths and challenges. I offer strength-based treatment for adults, children, and adolescents. My orientation as a counselor tends to be "eclectic". I draw ideas and techniques from counseling approaches whose utility have been supported through empirical research (e.g., EMDR, CBT, client-centered thera

I work with adults in the areas of anxiety, grief,
trauma
, depression, communication challenges, parenting, conflict and recovery.
Life brings about many challenges and sometimes those obstacles can bring about stress and emotional pain. I believe in meeting people where they're at and assisting them with finding the right track for themselves. Therapy is a form of teamwork that creates goals, builds strengths and provides a safe space to dig into the struggles and discover healthy ways to work through them. I provide the empathic listening that many find is lacking in their lives.

Feeling overwhelmed? Things don't make sense and you've lost perspective? Sometimes it is a big reason - such as divorce, medical issues, chronic pain, weight management, financial stress or job loss. Or sometimes we just realize that we are not where we want to be in our life and not sure how we got there or how to get back. This can result in anxiety, depressed mood and sadness. It's time to start putting the pieces together - changing bad behaviors and replacing them with healthy ones, being accountable and responsible for our own lives.

The last few years have been difficult and tiring, particularly for our teens and college students. Struggling with young adulthood, school, and a pandemic can be exhausting, between peer pressure, completing tasks, and family expectations. All of these challenges teens face can impact their self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I strive to help my clients to better cope with and recognize emotions; identify connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and improve relationships in order to live a more peaceful, enjoyable, and meaningful life.

You are the expert on your experience. My job is to walk beside you when it feels too hard to bear alone. I am passionate about helping people in transition, this includes adults dealing with family, loss, and job changes; older adults navigating their next stage of life; and adolescents because at that age every morning is a new transition. I treat a range of diagnoses, but have a special place in my heart for anxiety disorders. I also have extensive experience working with individuals living with chronic mental health needs.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
