I have assisted many clients in gaining insight into the issues that they are struggling with and healthier options that work for them. No client is the same as the next. We are all unique and take different paths in life and deserve a space to be heard. Clients struggle to connect with emotions, processing and regulating their emotions and struggle with finding positive solutions. Sometimes in life we don't know exactly what we want or which way to turn. I give my clients the space to learn about themselves and grow. I am compassionate, attentive and work with my clients to find the positive attributes in their lives.

I enjoy working with clients with a variety of life challenges and mental health or substance use issues, but I particularly enjoy working with clients who have experienced complex trauma and PTSD. I have experience with addiction, including opioid addiction, and dual diagnosis (mental health and addiction issues combined). Accepting new/ tele-health clients!! Welcome, simply arriving on this site suggests you have moved forward on your journey to health and wellness. I have been counseling clients for over 20 years and have found that making this initial outreach is often the biggest hurdle. Many of the individuals I work with have experienced depression or anxiety and many have found that substance use, once a form of 'decompression', has in fact compounded their struggle. This does not need to be your 'new' or 'permanant normal.'

As an adjustment counselor I worked with students on a wide range of issues and more recently as a Support Specialist for Caron Treatment Centers I was providing substance use prevention and intervention along with facilitating groups on social skills, resiliency, anxiety, and addiction.
I help adolescents transform their mindset and develop the self-awareness needed to create the best version of themself. I believe that in order to see real lasting change there needs to be a focus on social-emotional, physical, and mental health. This includes the importance of sleep, movement, nutrition, relationships, emotional-awareness and connection with self.

Prior experience includes employment as a Staff Therapist at Fenway Health in Boston and as a Substance Use Clinician at a Harvard affiliated clinic.
We all have inner resources, but it can be easier to find them with the help of a compassionate listener. As we gain insight into patterns and ideas about ourselves that no longer serve us and start to release them, places of inner constriction and tension start to unwind. We come closer to the simple truth of who we are, leading to more freedom, spaciousness, and peace. Together, we can foster a sense of curiosity and openness, and help you discover new aspects of yourself and your potential.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
