Problems and stress happen to all of us but stick to every person a little differently depending on our biology and life experiences. The symptoms that result from a high degree of stress, like anxiety and depression, require interventions like any other medical issue, or they will worsen, creating more health problems. Healing and change require a lot of compassion and a partnership of constructive problem solving. Therapy helps us do 2 important things: 1) Better manage disruptive symptoms and stressors. 2) Recover and discover meaning and success in life.
Life is full of transitions, some of our own choosing, others imposed upon us. The challenges involved in life altering experiences can sometimes feel overwhelming and therefore catalysts for common symptoms of anxiety and depression. I offer compassionate, client centered services designed to meet the individual where they are at while incorporating a mindful approach toward treatment. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand, cope with and resolve current challenges at hand.

Why do I need therapy? Therapy is for people who are crazy or out of control! I should be able to do this by myself! Asking or getting help means I'm not capable or strong. People are in therapy "cause they have to be." Couple's therapy is a last resort. Family therapy doesn't work/is not for me. Are any of these questions going through your mind? Is it helpful to know you are not alone? Sometimes, people are apprehensive about engaging in therapy or leery about continuing with therapy. All of the above reactions are understandable considering people's experiences. Licensure supervision/professional consultations offered.
