We specialize in supporting multicultural communities through anxiety, depression, trauma and life changes
You’ve been showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? Maybe you’ve mastered the role of caretaker, achiever, or problem-solver. From the outside, it looks like you have it all together. But inside, you feel drained, on edge, or like you’re one step away from shutting down. You’ve tried coping, with late-night walks, pushing through, but the stress lingers. Deep down, you just want a place where you can finally breathe. That’s where we come in. At KM Collaborative, we believe therapy should feel like a safe exhale.

I have over 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals with anxiety, depression with a trauma focused lens.
From the outside, it might look like you’re holding it all together but inside, you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, or just not feeling like yourself. You may be carrying a lot and not sure where to put it. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I work with adults and couples, especially women, who are dealing with stress, relationship challenges, past hurt, and the weight that can come with being a woman of color or navigating stress and trauma. I also support people through big life changes; like becoming a parent, relationship shifts, breakups, career changes, or trying to figure out what’s next.

I am particularly interested in working with individuals who may have affective disorders such as anxiety and depression.
My ideal client is open and honest in her presentation and is eager to work on identified issues. This client is committed to treatment and arrives weekly (or biweekly) for therapy sessions as per treatment agreement. Ideally, my clients would be somewhat self-reflective, although this is not a requirement. Self-reflection tends to promote the development of insight.

These can be described as anxiety, depression, anger, grief, life transitions, recurring relational patterns, self-doubt, meaninglessness, or the residual impacts of past traumas.
Along these lines, a basic imperative of my role is to embrace the fundamental humanity of everyone I work with. My main approach is psychodynamic, meaning I'll be interested in the past, the present, and the "here and now" of the counseling session. I also offer EMDR, a therapy that helps people recover from traumatic memories.

I’ve spent over a decade working in a range of clinical settings and developing specialties in anxiety, depression, OCD, and eating disorders.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work I do. Clients often describe my style as warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I bring authenticity and presence to each session, creating a space where people feel comfortable opening up about their struggles and where their strengths can also be recognized. My clients want tools and support to help them access their own sense of inner wisdom and ultimately live their lives with greater clarity, freedom, and ease.

I work a lot with anxiety, overthinking, people-pleasing, and that feeling of being responsible for everyone else.
We’ll connect the dots between your thoughts, experiences, and relationships and figure out what actually needs to change. Since 2023, I have worked with people in high-stress jobs, including first responders, who are used to holding it together on the outside while carrying a lot internally.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
