SORRY ! I AM NOT TAKING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME! It is crucial to try to create a safe place for clients to heal. Within that sacred place, clients can discover their authentic selves. I meet clients where they are in life and utilize a variety of therapeutic methods to help shift old patterns that are ready to be let go of. I utilize psychodynamic techniques as well as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients develop awareness and self-compassion. I also draw on body oriented techniques and expressive art therapy modalities which can effectively move energy that is stuck. I have trained in IFS as well.

My clients are typically between the ages of 14-35, navigating high school, college or the beginning of their professional career. They often experience immense pressure around expectations they have set for themselves, or someone else has set for them. They may experience anxiety or depression and are eager to explore coping skills and treatment options. They are interested in identifying the ways in which their relationships, responsibilities, family culture and current life stage plays a role in how they function in the world around them.

If there is one thing we can count on in life is change--expected or unexpected; wanted or unwanted. Perhaps it is a loss, a difficult transition, a new diagnosis, chronic pain, becoming a caregiver, parenting a child with a disability--it could be anything that significantly alters your life plans, your relationships, expectations, sense of self, and day-to-day functioning. People often experience depression, anxiety, relational tension, and feel overwhelmed when faced with a challenging life issue, whether the challenge is short or long-term.

Unfortunately my practice is often full. I use a warm and collaborative approach, and two decades of clinical experience, I have helped hundreds of adults get relief from a variety of concerns. I am especially helpful in areas of life transitions, anxiety, trauma, and loss. I will actively engage with you to understand the challenge and craft an approach just for you. In the past few years, I have integrated neurofeedback into my practice, and integrate it with my expertise in several therapies that help resolve even longstanding difficulties. My experience has shown that healing and change truly are possible!

A wise doctor once wrote: "It is more important to understand the person who has an illness than the illness a person has." This is even truer for emotional problems than physical ones. Likewise, without understanding the context of a person's life and family, past and present -- one cannot really begin to know the person. I have worked for many years with teenagers, men and women of all ages with addictions, family and relationship conflict, and the universal problems of depression and anxiety. Certainly there are commonalities among the problems they present, but it is the uniqueness of each of my clients that leads to change.

About forty years ago while attending Smith College graduate program, I learned that psychotherapy is the study of "the vicissitudes of love." Over my long career of counseling individuals and couples, both as a clinical director of a large outpatient mental health center, and for these past decades in private practice, the ups and downs of life and love have been my focus. With warmth, compassion and humor, I help people find their answers, learn coping skills, and have difficult conversations--internally and externally.

My practice primarily treats children, adolescents, and adults through the modalities of individual, family therapy and parental guidance. I approach each client's issues, situations with care and compassion in order to create a non-judgemental space so they can develop their strengths and gain new insights into their symptoms and behaviors. I enjoy the process of building the therapeutic relationship as I believe that it is through relationships people can heal. Much of my experience is treating trauma; anxiety; mood disorders; and transitional issues such as divorce, adoption, loss, and relational issues.

From over 30 years of experience, I bring a warm and interactive approach to helping you address emotional issue/s that interfere with living the life you'd like to live. These emotional issues could be depression, trauma, anxiety, divorce, grief, abuse, low-self esteem, etc. I draw from a host of treatment models that I believe will best suit your needs including Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). One model is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) that's particular helpful in facilitating resolution of issues in a shorter amount of time.

With over 20 years of experience in the field of helping others, I have learned that making a genuine connection with people is the best way in which to begin the work of therapy. One of the most important skills I have to offer is to carefully and compassionately listen to what you have to say. We then go from there; when you are ready, we begin to look at how to change.

Hello and welcome. It is never easy making the choice to begin therapy. Confiding in someone you don't know takes a lot of courage. With so many professionals out there, it can feel daunting and overwhelming to try and find the right person. A person you feel comfortable with, a place where you feel respected, a space of trust and safety. When I meet with a new client, my priority is to make sure you feel safe, respected, and heard. By working together, you will realize you are not alone.

I specialize in working with women and older adolescent girls in individual therapy, who are experiencing or interested in working on any of the following: Life Transitions, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Parenting, Relationship Issues, Emotional Fulfillment and Finding Spirituality on The Journey To Emotional Healing. I am an active psychodynamic clinician, who utilizes object relations theory, family systems theory and cognitive behavioral techniques. Above all, I value the therapist client relationship. Just as a grain of sand emerges as a pearl, I view life as a transformative experience. The pain of what we are faced with provides opportunity for growth.

How can I find a therapist in Concord?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
