anxiety
, relationship issues, life transitions, and family conflict. I approach treatment collaboratively and will work with you to develop a plan to help you and/or your child meet your goals. My approach is integrative, and draws on effective evidence-based treatments - including insight oriented approaches (psychodynamic), skill building approaches (cognitive-behavioral), and other collaborative and developmental interventions. Calm attention, compassion, energy, and creativity are important components of my approach; I recognize that therapy is a considerable commitment, and I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for our work.

My areas of specialization include
anxiety
, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, and working with individuals in the LGBQ/T communities.
I believe every person has inner wisdom and the capacity for fulfillment in life. However, challenging events in the far or recent past can make this wisdom hard to access, or, at times, even imagine. Instead, you may experience
anxiety
, depression, relationship difficulties, or feelings of chronic stress. Using a collaborative, integrative approach I help you connect with your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and gain deep self-understanding and acceptance. In this way you can free yourself from self-limiting patterns and become more of who you want to be in your life.

I most frequently work with clients experiencing
anxiety
, OCD, relationship and family issues, and LGBTQ & gender-identity exploration.
What is it like to be you? My approach lies in creating a meaningful and authentic relationship with my client where there is security and openness to fully explore areas of difficulty, pain, joy, and growth. Together, we can address concerns surrounding
anxiety
and mood, coping strategies, identity and self-worth, disconnection, and transition/loss that may be impacting wellbeing. I aim to help others cultivate a greater understanding of and compassion for themselves, increase the ability to make choices and try new ways of being, and make changes that reflect core values and aspirations.

My specialty is EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which helps people to process traumatic or painful life experiences. Along with PTSD, often issues such as depression,
anxiety
, addictions, relationship issues or having a loud inner critic can be traced significant life events. I have found that once earlier wounds are healed, clients are able to discover their inherent strengths, feel like a weight has been lifted, and can live with more ease and balance. My approach is person-centered, nonjudgmental, warm and collaborative.

My ideal client suffers from
anxiety
and depression. These struggles create the inability to function as expected daily. This client needs mood stabilization and the ability to function easier by completing daily routines and tasks with fewer challenges. The client also wants mood stabilization to avoid suicidal ideation, plan, or intent. As we work together on improving mental health, the client's mood will stabilize with less interactive
anxiety
and depressive feelings of suicidal ideation within the next three months.

Choosing wellness can be a daunting and overwhelming task. Asking for help can feel scary and
anxiety
provoking, sometimes we doubt our capacity to change. Therapy is an essential tool we will use to disentangle your life and relationships while building clarity and self-awareness. Committing to wellness and making room for subtle change will alter your life as you know it. Strengthening a relationship with yourself will naturally inspire and deepen your connections to others. I look forward to getting to know you. Congratulations on taking this first step towards relief.

I specialize in helping clients with relationship issues, identity questions, existential angst, grief, obsessive and compulsive issues,
anxiety
, and life transitions.
It can be rather disheartening to expend considerable energy trying to change something and be left with a similar outcome. It is not easy to lead a fulfilling life while being caught in patterns outside of awareness. Psychotherapy gives the opportunity to look inward and ask how a fleeting thought, a dream, or a subtle change may be related to ongoing difficulties. Taking a closer look at something while also being curious during that exploration can open up a greater understanding and lead to meaningful changes.

For me, becoming a therapist required a commitment to my own growth and healing. This, I think, is the most important thing to know about me. Through the process you are about to engage in, I found work that engages me and allows me to feel more myself. Whether you struggle with existential angst, relational tension, depression,
anxiety
or the trials of life transition, I will collaborate with you to figure out the best way through...for YOU. Training in the theory and practice of social work, psychoanalysis and yoga inform my approach with individuals and couples.

anxiety
, PTSD, depression, and fatigue.
As both a Registered Nurse and a Reiki Master, I specialize in treating the whole person- body, mind and spirit. I incorporate many other practices to help the body and mind to relax, thus letting the energy flow better, creating a deeper healing experience. Together we will determine which of these other practices work best for you. I have been a Registered Nurse since 2012, and am familiar with the various physical and emotional challenges that people face. I have worked to provide care and aid in their transition towards health and wellbeing. I use my experience and knowledge as a nurse in my practice as a Reiki Master.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
