I enjoy working with adults, adolescents, children, and
couples
from diverse backgrounds.
Life is challenging and beautiful, and so confusing. We strive toward meaning and connection. Yet, often we feel stuck as we struggle to overcome internal and external barriers to the life we want to lead. Therapy can provide a safe environment to work through difficulties, cope with intense feelings, and move toward positive change. In my approach to counseling, you will find warm support, as well as encouragement to look inward and take action at your own pace. I will listen to you carefully, and if needed, respectfully challenge you to take responsibility for your life, while letting go of self-blame.

For over twenty years I have worked only with individuals, avoiding
couples
work because I found no approach that I thought helpful.
When our working life and/or our relationships do not give us a sense of vitality and purpose, this is a sign that we have become disconnected from parts of ourselves.
I work with individuals and
couples
to help them get closer to themselves. This helps them get closer to others and to work they find meaningful.
I encourage my clients to follow one rule and one rule only: to describe whatever comes to their mind. It is not easy to do! What helps is that there are two of us deeply involved in this dialogue, observing together, exploring more deeply, Slowly, it becomes easier, and the easier it becomes the more likely it is that feelings and thoughts are meeting on new ground.
Psychotherapy can be an unforgettable journey of discovery, a way to restore meaning, vitality and purpose. I invite those who want to explore the possibilities to meet in a safe place for inner exploration-- my Brookline office--easy access to the T and parking.

can be helpful if characterized by warmth, flexibility, openness, active engagement, and sensitivity.
"A year from now, you may wish you started today." - K. Lamb. It is normal to view the process of beginning therapy as daunting, however recognizing the need for help is a sign of strength and motivation. There is nothing harder than starting every day with the feeling that nothing is ever going to change and what's the use in trying? Therapy can and will help you address obstacles, create meaningful relationships, and learn ways to develop better insight. Whether you are experiencing depressed feelings, overwhelming anxiety, unbearable life transitions, or struggles in your relationships, it can get better.

I appreciate the courage it takes to seek out help at a time of vulnerability and hope that I can be helpful to you. I have over 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, young adults and

With the right clinician, therapy can give you the freedom to be who you are and who you want to be. Therefore my primary focus to treatment is establishing and strengthening an authentic and collaborative

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
