I am deeply curious about human relationships; the conditions that make them mutually satisfying and joyful as well as how they can go wrong leaving people feeling in pain, lonely or unworthy. My practice consists of couples and adults whose relationships with themselves and/or others are in disrepair. We all have many relationships. Yet, the more personal and intimate they are, the more distressing and challenging they can be at one time or another. I encourage individuals and couples looking to discover greater relational joy and willing to look both inward and outward for more satisfying life solutions to contact me.

My approach to therapy is relational and integrative. I focus primarily on thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Above all else, I work to build a thriving therapeutic relationship. Strong relationships are the foundation of overall health. Family systems theory is the foundation of all my work. I also incorporate cognitive-behavioral and emotionally-focused models of therapy. I work with adolescents and adults. I focus on couple and family issues.

I've worked in schools for the last twenty-three years, helping an array of children and teens experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, as well as social, emotional, and academic challenges. I believe that young people are all amazing in their own ways. Children benefit from having someone in their corner unconditionally to help develop skills and strategies in an effort to become increasingly confident, independent, and successful both in and out of school. I value communication with parents to best help each client. I approach all of my clients in a warm and compassionate manner in an effort to develop a strong connection.

Taking the step to start therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. I work with people who have experienced trauma, anxiety, or difficult life transitions and are looking for real relief and healing. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in cycles of stress, self-doubt, or painful memories that continue to affect their present lives. In our work together, you’ll find a safe, supportive space where you can process what you’ve been through and begin to move forward. I use EMDR, along with evidence-based approaches like CBT and mindfulness, ot only talk about your experiences but actually heal from them.

My ideal client is an individual who is willing to participate in therapy. As a client, they are eager to identify their issues, needs, goals, and desires to better their lives. Someone who comes prepared each session to talk and is challenging oneself to be open and honest. I want to work with someone who believes in themselves. And one who does not give up on themselves or the therapeutic process.

The people I see are interested in working hard on the core issues interfering with their relationships and work. Therapy happens in real time in one's life, and should aim to resolve these issues without delay. When I see people initially, and when I teach other therapists, I emphasize that a feeling that something real is happening, that it is having an impact, should be part of the process from the beginning, even if one recognizes there is a lot of work to do.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of yourself, I want you to know you’re not alone. Maybe you’re dealing with self-doubt, relationship problems, or just feeling like things aren’t going the way you want. That’s normal, and it’s okay. Sometimes, things that happened when you were little can show up in your life now as self-doubt, anxiety, or difficulty trusting yourself. My goal is to help you reconnect with that part of you, heal old wounds, and start feeling safer, loved, and confident.

While we are fully aware of what is happening at the conscious level, we have no idea what information is stored in the unconscious. For the most part, the source of most of our problems is stored in the unconscious. I help patients verbalize and get in touch with their unconscious, leading to a successful treatment. I Work with adults diagnosed with a psychotic mental disorder; highly functional patients, however, under psychotic medications. I also have experience working with individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, and narcissistic personality disorder.

Therapy as I view it is nothing more or less than a helpful conversation. During these conversations, I will attend closely to your words and expressions to help illuminate implicit stories you may be living out that support the problems you are hoping to address. Contextualizing these stories within your personal history, relationships, and larger social and political dynamics helps them feel less absolute and more optional. Stepping back from these narratives allows for a reclaiming of values, relationships and ways of being that more fully express who we wish to be.

I am passionate about helping clients achieve their goals and lead happy and fulfilling lives! I earned my Bachelor’s degree as a student-athlete at Merrimack College playing football and studying sociology and clinical psychology. I then earned my Master’s in Social Work at Walden University. Before joining the team at Launch, I’ve enjoyed working within interdisciplinary teams such as PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) and serving diverse populations of all ages who struggle with mental health and/or substance use.

Despite being wired for connection, we often find ourselves "winging it" in relationships. Many of us didn't get the relationship blueprint we needed. This can often lead to a frustrating cycle filled with misunderstandings and loneliness. Sexual desire and fulfillment can easily suffer as a result. As an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and trained relationship therapist, I help clients gain the clarity and confidence needed to effectively navigate these obstacles. While I welcome all clients, I am particularly passionate about offering a safe and affirming space for those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
