I regularly treat depression, anxiety, PTSD/CPTSD, phobias, OCD, hoarding disorder, bipolar disorder, sexual issues (queer/kink/SW-allied), and ADHD.
Choosing a new therapist can be intimidating, whether it’s your first time or you’ve been in therapy forever. I respect this and try to make the process of starting therapy one that feels as comfortable as possible from our first session. I believe the most important part of being human is our ability to empathize with others, and therapy should be a space where we can tell our story and truly feel heard, understood, and validated.

As a therapist, I prioritize being a non-judgmental listener. Sitting with me should feel like sitting with a friend or a coach who can help by listening and providing feedback. However, this is your therapy, and you will decide what you're going to do in your life. Showing up is the hardest part, but we can work on the rest together. I will offer feedback that might be challenging at times, but I will always respect your boundaries. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for OCD. My primary focus is working with women aged 30 years and older. You are ready to stop over-apologizing, overthinking texts, and replaying conversations in your head. Being a woman can be empowering, joyful, beautiful and also incredibly overwhelming! Life transitions, career decisions, empty nest, caring for aging parents, changing body, and personal identity can lead us to ask “Who am I.” Juggling work and family responsibilities may lead us to feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, lost or stuck.

Happiness is not a destination, it is a journey” (Aristotle). If you have found yourself questioning your own happiness, you may be questioning your journey. Asking for help along the way can sometimes be difficult; however, I can offer you comfort in making that decision and help guide you. Healing takes time, but you don't have to do it alone. If you are looking for growth and deliverance of new and innovative interventions through compassion and understanding, you have found the beginning of a new journey.

I feel most connected to individuals navigating a web of interconnected challenges that significantly impact their daily lives. People whose inner world is often clouded by persistent unease and worry, not just fleeting nervousness, but a constant undercurrent affecting their thoughts and interactions. They might feel perpetually on edge, minds racing, making relaxation difficult, and sometimes experiencing overwhelming panic. A persistent low mood might linger, dimming their enjoyment of life and making even simple tasks feel burdensome. They may describe sadness, a lack of their enjoyment of life and making tasks feel burdensome.

Hoarding Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?

Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?

The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?

Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
