It's an unfortunate reality, but many people never reach their full potential in life; there always seems to be one or more things holding them back. This can be due to past traumatic experiences, a difficult childhood, their own thoughts, etc... the list is endless! As a result, anxiety and depression can set in.

When you’ve experienced trauma, the world can feel like a minefield of triggers, making even getting out of bed feel like a victory. If you’re living with the constant hum of anxiety or the heavy silence of depression, you might feel like your past is an anchor holding you back. I specialize in helping individuals break free from that weight. As a clinician and adjunct instructor at Rutgers, I understand the science of healing just as deeply as the heart of it. You aren't just a set of symptoms; you are a person with innate strengths, and together, we will build a path where your history no longer dictates your future.

Have you been to therapy in the past? Perhaps you worked with a traditional talk therapist, gained considerable awareness, yet at the root things have not changed. Maybe therapy has been helpful in some ways, but you have not felt truly seen or met. Does your current struggle feel bigger than you at times? Perhaps it feels connected to trauma of previous generations but you can't explain why. Trauma is an energy that remains stuck in the body and gets passed down genetically- until acknowledged and felt. To heal from trauma/PTSD/C-PTSD, we need to understand how the body holds trauma as well as the wisdom and route towards healing.

Hi! I believe healing starts in spaces where you feel safe, affirmed, and truly seen. My work is grounded in a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, which means I walk beside you with deep respect for your lived experience, your pace, and your resilience. You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

*Please note that I continue to be 100% distance based for the time being* It isn't always easy to reach outside of ourselves when we are feeling deeply lonely and experiencing extreme emotions. These are precisely the times, though, when it makes sense to try to find people with whom we can talk without too much fear of judgment or rejection. In my role as Therapist, I actively commit to strive to be one of those people; to meet you wherever you are emotionally, in a comfortable, confidential and respectful setting.

Life can be hard and messy, especially modern life. Therapy is an opportunity to pause, seek clarity on where we're stuck or what we're going through, and find a way forward. As a psychologist with 14 years of experience providing individual therapy, I’m particularly interested in how our past shapes our present-day patterns of thinking, feeling, and reacting and in experimenting with new, more helpful ways of relating to our self and our world. I feel I'm especially attuned to working with anxiety, shame, complex trauma, chronic worrying or "overthinking", grief, and challenges related to identity and relationships.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.
Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.
How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
