Need to talk to someone unbiased who will challenge, support and not pacify you? If so, I am the clinician for you. My mantra is: "it doesn't matter where your journey begins; only where it ends and what you pass and pick up along the way." For the past fourteen years I have served the "working well" (i.e...individuals like you facing every day struggles) and individuals in the criminal justice system. Both populations faced difficulty with adjustment, depression, anxiety, loss, relationships, anger , substance use, parenting and major mental illness. However, the major difference between them are the resources available to cope.

I currently see the majority of my clients over Zoom. I am just beginning to have in-person sessions in Needham. I specialize in parenting issues, anger management and spiritual issues. I provide support to men and fathers as they strive to become the best version of themselves. I tend to work with a lot of men who are former athletes. My background as a former high school and college athlete seems to serve our connection. The men who come see me want to channel their aggression in a healthier way and tend to be self reliant and often have a hard time asking for help.

This fire will not burn you; it will only burn what you are not. - Mooji I love this quote as applied to the therapeutic process. Many of us feel instinctively that we have a true core self inside who is wise and who knows what is best for us, but somehow things seem to keep going sideways in the course of our everyday lives. Good therapy has many components; it is a safe and comfortable space to speak and be truly heard, it increases our insight and self-knowledge, and it helps us learn new coping skills. It also supports us in healing from and shedding old beliefs and patterns.

My experience centers on working with adults on presenting issues like mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and anger management .
Whether managing short-term or long-term stress, I value making a space for clients to take a moment to stop, step back from what they're doing and take a look from the outside. In a comfortable space with a supportive therapeutic relationship, clients can best understand themselves and disentangle the challenges of daily life. With that understanding, I believe in helping clients identify what defines them as an individual, and how to best fulfill the things in life that are important to them. I also value awareness of identities relating to culture, ethnicity, gender and sex, and how they affect clients' values and goals.

We will remain stuck in the same old patterns of anxiety, depression, fear, anger .
Hello! My name is Erica Bradley. I am a LICSW in the state of Massachusetts. I have been a social worker for about 6 years and have worked in some form of human services for 15 years. After getting a bachelor's degree in public health and going to work in a group home for developmentally disabled adults I realized the need for more social workers. During graduate school I interned in a hospice, which was both incredibly challenging and rewarding. I then interned in an primary care office providing therapy. Following graduation with my MSW I went to work in the male, State-Prison System.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
