Specialties include trauma , depression, anxiety, anger management, body image issues, eating disorders, feeling "stuck", PTSD , relationship issues, life transitions, stress management, life coaching and self-esteem.
I believe that it takes strength and courage to seek therapy. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore attitudes and beliefs /patterns which get in the way of accomplishing your full potential and engaging fully in of life. I utilize a more holistic, mind-body approach to treatment, weaving together techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFS, mindfulness/acceptance and yoga therapy to connect you with your "true, inner self", something which we often lose touch with as we go about our lives in this often fast-paced, unpredictable and stressful world. I am also certified in EMDR (www.emdria.org)

A lot has happened for you, and you’ve been doing a lot just to get by. You’ve had to hide what’s really going on from others, and even from yourself. The trauma , toxic relationships, and negative life experiences have been making it hard for you to have fulfilling relationships, work, and even just to be you You don’t feel like yourself, or even know who you are, you don’t know who to trust, and you’re not where you want to be.

My purpose is to help people heal from experiences of low-self worth, toxic relationships, and childhood trauma . So that they can receive the joy, abundance, and the love they deserve. When client’s first begin working with me they have this nagging feeling that something needs to change. Whatever they have been doing in the past is no longer serving them. Initially when clients first reach out, they are anxious about sharing what is going on in their world. My clients are used to being the “strong friend” or are perceived as having it all together or being the “therapist” in their friend group.

Although much of my experience has been working in higher levels of care focusing on substance abuse and eating disorders, I am also trained to treat PTSD with EMDR.
Why do so many of us avoid feeling? Somewhere along the line, we learned that discomfort was "bad." We all avoid in certain ways and it takes strength to look at ourselves compassionately. I balance a realistic, no fluff approach with warmth and empathy. We are all going through something, but I believe we can heal and be inspired by the little things (which eventually become the big things).

Although I work with a variety of issues, I specialize treating young adults, adoptees, and survivors of trauma /complex PTSD .
I love what I do. As a therapist, I have the privilege of walking with people during a part of their life journey, and it’s incredibly rewarding. I work well with people who desire greater self-knowing. My clients are curious and self-reflective, but have experienced things that leave them feeling stuck, frustrated and uncertain. During sessions we may encounter hard-to-feel emotions like grief, anger, and shame. Together we sort through the mess, look at it with kindness, and make meaning. Clients leave therapy with me having cultivated deeper clarity and self-compassion, and feel able to make empowered choices in their lives.

I have worked in community mental health for over 10 years and have experience with a myriad of stressors including (not limited to) life transitions, relational problems, trauma (complex trauma ), depression/anxiety, and grief.
Do you feel you've been living just to get through the days? Or that your past experiences in life are holding you back from what you'd really like to be doing? I may be able to help. Coming to therapy can be one of the most difficult decisions one chooses to make. Whether it's your first time, fifth time, or transitioning from a long history with a previous therapist, change can be very hard. Feeling the right connection is an important building block of treatment success.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological reaction that occurs after an extremely stressful event, such as physical violence or military combat. Those suffering from PTSD have recurring memories of the stressful event and are anxious or scared even in the absence of danger. Flashbacks and nightmares are common symptoms as well.
