I am an open and accepting practitioner with experience in the polyamorous and kinky communities, as well as with queer sexuality.
I help people who are exploring questions of sexuality, gender expression, and relationship styles to accept themselves in their beauty and strength, so they can experience loving connection in their lives. Whether you are struggling with gender expression, sexual orientation, desire for multiple partners, BDSM or kink, or other desires that are outside the mainstream, I am here to listen, to educate, to guide, and to help you integrate the parts of you that are currently closed off. I also work with trauma and grief, and provide a space for the boundaried expression and relief of old wounds.

I am a queer , disabled, neurodivergent therapist and understand the impact that oppression can have on you living the life you want to live.
You have been trying to get to a place where you can be authentically you. But currently, trauma is getting in the way. Whether that’s trauma from hurtful relationships or trauma from dealing with the daily impact of oppression. In order to be authentically you, you realize you’ll have to heal - heal from the past, heal from the present, and heal within the systems that harm you every day.

My social work education was in psychodynamic therapy with strong social/ racial justice and LGBTQIA + positivity.
I respond to all inquiries. I’m glad you’re taking this important step! People tell me I am easy to talk to. Very little surprises me and I listen carefully and non-judgmentally. With my experience I am quickly able to help identify the best places to start work that feels effective, to create change and bring peace. I can help you feel less ashamed or weird or worried or alone. The things we judge ourselves for are simply the best strategies we have come up with over time to get by (and maybe it’s time to let some of them go). I love to help people feel more comfortable being exactly who they are, or want to become.

Though I have worked with a diverse array of populations, most of my experience has been with survivors of traumatic experiences, anxiety/depression, people in recovery from substances, and the LGBTQ community.
Imagine beginning every day feeling energized, confident and ready to take on whatever comes your way. You might feel better about your progress with life goals, be able create meaningful and close relationships, maintain healthier habits, and have a regular sense of pride and accomplishment. You know you have so much potential, but may not know exactly how to reach it. Be proud of yourself for taking this first step to creating positive changes in your life.

I help Adults and Children address panic, anxiety, fear, sexuality, LGBT , depression, ADHD, diet/body image, relationship, bullying, shame, oppositionality and attachment issues.
Feeling nervous or stressed is natural. When these feelings overwhelm us, we need someone to listen, to validate our concerns, and to help us get to the root of our problems with tools that will inspire hope, and help us regain control of our lives. I use Mindfulness Practices to help people sit with, and tolerate what comes up. I use Self-Compassion Practices to help soothe what ails you, and I often use CBT to organize our plan going forward. This gives you tools that you can use immediately, and strikes a fine balance between listening and responding.

I enjoy working with people in life transitions (adolescence, partnerships, parenting, etc), and specialize in working with LGBTQ + clients.
I come to clinical work with a first-hand knowledge of just how hard it is to be a person sometimes, complete with my own vulnerabilities, insecurities, and history. I'm a relational cultural therapist first and foremost: change and growth occurs through vulnerability and authenticity - from both client AND clinician. Who I am is part of the work that I do. I believe the impact of identity on our lived experiences is paramount - I am particularly interested in the role that social and racial oppression plays in mental health. Most of all, I'm grateful and honored to sit with my clients and hold space for the challenges they face.

Therapy can be a helpful way to address challenges in life. My approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. We’ll work together to figure out a process that makes sense for you. My priority is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and accepted. I have a particular interest in working with queer , transgender , and nonbinary children and adults. I’m also invested in working with immigrants, third culture kids, and those exploring questions of cultural identity. I primarily use a psychodynamic approach, however I draw on a variety of modalities depending on a client's needs.

How can I find a therapist in Arlington?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
