We usually address topics that include
anxiety
, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, and spirituality.
I feel very fortunate to do the job that I do and I approach therapy as a real collaboration between my clients and myself. I believe that people already have inner resources needed for exploration and healing and that therapy is a place where we can work together to discover and utilize those resources. I would describe my style as warm and interactive; I ask questions, I give and seek feedback, and I often use humor. I also focus on being present and open with you, listening with full, active attention in the moment. Overall, my hope is that when you come here, you’ll feel heard, supported, and like you can be yourself.

If you are looking for support with self-exploration & self-esteem; experiencing relationship stress, depression or
anxiety
; adjusting to parenthood or big changes; or if you just feel like you need somewhere to unpack what you've been carrying for too long -- let's talk. I welcome your journey with radical acceptance - the grit, the shame, the parts we try to hide and bury away. The funny thing about those things is, we all have them. I love therapy because it gives that stuff some room to breathe - which gives YOU room to breathe. And reboot. And make plans for what comes next.

I also draw upon family systems theory as well as cognitive-behavioral theory which focuses on how distorted cognitions and types of behavior perpetuate problems such as depression and
anxiety
.
Pease note that I am not accepting new clients at this time. It takes a lot of courage to enter into therapy as it means acknowledging that something isn't working in your life. Everyone who comes into therapy is a unique individual whose problems are different eventhough they may fall under the same category,e.g."depressed." Sometimes people enter into therapy with specific problems while for others there is a need to understand old, negative patterns of behaviors.

To help people create a narrative that is strength based and adaptive, to find hope. I hope to help clients start to feel like they have more control of their conscious mind, to step out of living life on autopilot and to find safety in their own bodies. In addition to trauma informed care, I am experienced in helping adults and teens experiencing

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
