I have been providing psychotherapy and counseling since 1987 and
coaching
since 2003.
Online Webcam counseling, or In-Office counseling, my approach to helping people is to clearly understand each person's way of thinking, feeling, understanding, and living - their unique personal psychology - and to tailor an effective method of helping to the individual, their strengths and their needs. Much of my
life
's enjoyment comes from helping people live happier, more fulfilling lives. In working with me as your counselor or
life
coach, you can expect someone who listens with a caring and empathic attitude - someone who will provide expert and effective feedback to help you reach your goals for a satisfying and joyful

Though not easily surprised, I do have an intense ability to hear and have regard for my clients in the telling of their
life
story as it unfolds.
There are times that we need to connect with someone, to feel heard and to be respected. I will encourage you to grow to trust yourself and the decisions that you are about to make. My experience in working with people is focused on empowerment. I want to help you create a sense of certainty in your progress forward. Most who come through my door are seeking a place to be themselves, as flawed and misunderstood as they may feel. Outsiders find themselves worthy and cared for here.

My expertise is in the area of major loss (illness, aging, dying, significant
life
change, bereavement) also caregiving and end-of-
life
planning. Such challenges are often overwhelming, even immobilizing. A person can feel they have hit a brick wall, and may feel depressed, hopeless, anxious or numb. When they are able to be present to it they may discover surprising gifts, such as inner resources they might not know are there, ways to take better care of themselves, and new understanding of what is most important to them. Some people find that, amazingly,
life
can be transformed in ways that make it richer than ever.

I emphasize three dimensions of therapy: a safe, holding environment that allows you to explore your
life
history and current situations; improved communications between internal systems within you and between you and the people in your
life
; and behavior change, which requires practice and self-awareness.
Many of my patients are recovering from addictions of various sorts. Many of them, as well as other patients, have mood disorders (anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder). I also work with individuals and families struggling with problems in work and career, marriage and similar relationships, and what are often described as existential or spiritual crises--the lack of a sense of meaning and purpose in
life
. I involve families in therapy when possible--people don't live and learn as isolated individuals.

If
life
is an uphill battle, then we'll acknowledge your effort of trudging up that hill.
Each of us has many parts that work with our core selves to make decisions, develop beliefs, and experience
life
. If you're struggling to find internal harmony, I can help. We will examine your thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs-- and then explore ways you can make the changes you want. Because so much in this world is vying for your attention, my job is to help you listen to yourself.

And, it's fun! I also provide adolescent work for parents and children during this challenging transition in
life
.
My passion and dedication to the work is evident upon our first meeting. My positive energy stems from the belief that change is possible and I come to restore hope. I provide an open, compassionate and non judgmental space for my clients to explore their past and present lives. Collaboratively, we work together, at your pace, to obtain the goals that you identify. I believe that parenting is a journey that we undertake without a map and, at times, along the way, we all get lost. And, together, we can create a new path that feels good to you.

life
transitions; perfectionism; self-doubt; relationship difficulties; divorce; searching for
life
direction and a sense of purpose; loss and grief; and exploration of identity. I work with people through collaborative, interactive conversation to help them gain insight, to develop strategies to approach their

What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
