Are you suffering from low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, shame or perhaps even self-loathing? It can feel risky and sometimes exquisitely shameful to reveal oneself to a another person. I can help reduce your shame and make the therapeutic process more bearable and productive. Together we will look honestly and fully at your conflicts, strengths, relationships and experiences - in a manner that is gentle, yet steadfast; warm, yet serious; and attentive to you in all your individual complexity.
I work within a psychodynamic approach, exploring unconscious conflicts and the profound impact of early experiences. At the same time, it's important to maintain focus on the here-and-now and alleviate current distress. I incorporate other approaches when appropriate. I also offer group therapy, couples therapy and professional supervision.
I find working in this field enormously gratifying and bring a high degree of commitment and energy to my clients. I am the President and Faculty Chair of The Washington Society of Psychoanalytic Psychology, and a Member of The American Psychological Association and American Group Psychotherapy Association.

General Coed Psychotherapy Group
Ongoing general psychotherapy group with well-functioning men and woman (mixed race and sexual orientation). Very warm, cohesive group, working effectively on a variety of issues, including relationships, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, assertiveness, trust, intimacy, sexuality, loss and career dissatisfaction.
