About
As a young girl, I wanted to be a teacher. I got my teaching certificate and then a degree in counseling and guidance. Increasingly, the field of psychology captured my attention. My training focused on children and families which led to working with couples. In my work with children, I developed expertise in the areas of trauma and pediatric illnesses and led to trauma with adults and to work in end-of-life issues. The field of psychology has changed so much! 40 years ago people attended therapy for years. Now people can utilize the tools and strategies the therapy can provide in fewer than five sessions.
Dr. Geiger provides "Prescriptive Psychotherapy", a therapeutic approach which specifically tailors treatment plans in order to help this client with this problem at this time. Utilizing the client's own learning style and strengths, evidence based treatments are selected which will most effectively assist the client in moving forward toward their goals.
the quality of the therapy relationship is the best predictor of the outcome of treatment. The keys to successful therapist – client relationship or empathy, genuineness and active listening. This is the goal I strive to achieve with every person I see. These keys combined with best practices determine the best outcome and highlight my personal philosophy.
