Many people begin therapeutic work with me because they are ready to make a change but do not know how or where to begin. Sometimes work stress, life changes, relationships and family problems can become stressful or hard to manage. This can lead to depression, anxiety, or unhealthy ways of coping. I will help you develop your own insight and understanding as we establish new skills and strategies for sustaining change. I will listen attentively and respond fully. My style in therapy is active, calm, and non-judgmental; I work to create a confidential space to explore the issues and challenges that are most important to you.
With more than twenty years of experience providing therapy, I incorporate techniques that are appropriate to your needs and goals. I am interested in understanding what is happening for you now, and how your past experiences affect your present life. Every person is unique, and in therapy, as everywhere else, one size does not fit all.
I am experienced in working with the challenges of life: anxiety, depression, addiction, attachment, relationships, life changes and work. I also work with a range of approaches to addictions, from harm reduction, moderation management, to abstinence. I believe that therapy itself is where the most important work can happen when embarking on change.
