I support diverse clients with depression, anxiety, and trauma using mixed treatment modalities depending on what is best for the client. Each client is different, and sometimes the best approach requires outside-the-box thinking. My Therapeutic Animal Assistant, Amos, is an 80-lb. rescue pitbull with a big head and an even bigger heart. I find that, where appropriate, having an animal in therapy sessions can provide many benefits. I see clients through Animal Companion Counseling, a small non-profit in Cincinnati. If it's appropriate for your treatment, Amos will join our sessions.
I specialize in treating complex trauma, helping clients gain a sense of security within themselves and express their authentic identity. Many people have developed responses to trauma that have helped them survive; I work to help clients learn how to thrive.
The best thing about using dogs in therapy is that they do not judge. Amos will accept you regardless of your challenges, and so will I.
