About
I am a clinical psychologist and a psychoanalyst experienced in working with adults, young adults, and adolescents. I view psychotherapy as a vital instrument in the process of attaining the insight and direction one may need to deal effectively with life’s conflicts and obstacles. I work with individuals in a relational manner that is both empathic and challenging. My aim is to help patients examine their own thoughts and feelings in a supportive, safe environment so that they can come to understand patterns of experience. I think the experience of working closely and intimately with a therapist is a unique and transformative.
I help individuals understand how problems initially developed, connecting the past to current difficulties. As insight deepens, self esteem increases and one can make conscious choices. Every patient is different and I aim to structure the therapy in a way that is comfortable and safe for the patient.
In addition to working with patients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, familial, and relationship issues, I have a specialty in working with eating disorders. I am comfortable conducting therapy in both English and Spanish and have interests in issues around acculturation.
