Trauma has been an increasingly prevalent issue within mental health for decades. While counseling programs have been focusing more intensely on trauma in the past several years, some counselors take a generalist approach when working with clients who are survivors of significant trauma. Although these techniques have been clinically found to help clients, a specialized approach can be beneficial. If you are unsure about counseling due to past experiences, I assure you that at Advanced Counseling and Research Services we do not take a general approach — we take a patient-focused approach suited to your individual needs.
During my time in education, I chose courses focused on Trauma Counseling, Trauma & Addiction, and Counseling theories specializing in Trauma. Along with this clinical insight, I conceptualize my clients from a Person Centered Theory, which prioritizes the relationship. This puts a primary focus on security and empathy within the therapeutic process.
Counseling is a daunting task, and working through trauma within counseling can seem impossible. At this practice, I can assure you that you will feel empowered to do both while also feeling secure and safe. Every client’s journey is unique, and I will meet you where you are in that journey.
