I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a commitment to being in the growth process with my clients. If you are struggling with repetitive and distressing thoughts that often seem illogical, this might be OCD. I work with adolescents and adults who are dealing with OCD and anxiety and are seeking more peace within themselves. I also have lived experience recovering from the grips of OCD, and I am passionate about helping others. In addition to my OCD and anxiety specialty, I have many years of experience as a generalist therapist and have worked with many concerns such as family of origin issues and trauma.
I currently use the evidence-based treatment for OCD called Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. For rumination that is difficult to manage I use another evidence-based approach called Metacognitive Therapy. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention, and I am also an Art Therapist which can be a helpful adjunct in OCD treatment.
I will work with you from a base of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of becoming aware of, without attaching to, thoughts and feelings that interfere with living peacefully. By becoming more mindful we gain freedom from destructive patterns and engage with the world with greater well-being. When treating OCD and anxiety, compassion must come first.

I primarily use Inference-based CBT to treat OCD. This approach helps OCD sufferers to understand when they leave their grounded "real self" and enter the realm of imagined fears so they have more freedom. I also use Metacognitive Therapy to target rumination, worry, avoidance, and threat monitoring as they occur in OCD as well as anxiety and depression. MCT is also short term and targeted.
