I have been working in the social work field since 1984. About 25 years ago, I started my full time private practice, and can still say that I love what I do. 30 years working with people provides me with a wealth of knowledge. A client only needs to bring themselves and have a willingness to commit to the therapeutic process. I have also enjoyed teaching as an adjunct instructor at The Adelphi University School of Social Work, where I teach graduate level classes in Individual Treatment, Group Treatment and Family/Marital Treatment.
People come in with a variety of symptoms, mostly Depression and Anxiety. However, there are many underlying causes for these symptoms and no one way to effectively treat every client. Therefore, I utilize a number of treatment approaches including, Insight Oriented, Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral, Self Psychology and Strategic/ Structural Therapy.
My style is very interactional. Together, we will fully explore the identified problem and develop strategies that will fix the problem or problems that we have mutually identified. Clients feel very comfortable in my office suite and always comment on how caring and professional my staff is.
