Love "The first duty of love is to listen." When someone truly listens the problems come to light and can be healed, resolved. Your unique capabilities and telling of your story in the ways you choose to resolve what brings you here are highly valued in the counseling process. I may use assessments and diagnoses but may also help with adjustment or not need to label. I assess the problem and offer researched solutions proven to work. I use a variety of therapies, including a person centered approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also offer Equine and Canine Assisted therapy. I offer tele-therapy and remote video counseling.
CBT is proven to work as effectively as Rx drugs for some diagnoses. Sometimes prescription medication is necessary and I consult with medical doctors and other professionals I refer to. I do Play Therapy and Couples Counseling. I was also a Professor of Psychology, Career Development, and College Success. I work with military and international clients.
I've worked in a crisis unit; domestic violence shelter; prison; base; residential drug treatment center; court programs; in home treatment; schools; on immigration, bariatric, and child dependency assessments; under a Psychiatrist, Behavior Analyst, & Physical Therapist; and as a Trainer. Past: Focus Group for Weight Management
If you are interested in being part of a Focus Group to develop this program please email - lovingtherapy@gmail.com - You will receive support and resources for weight loss and management. Anyone can participate in the group Online and if it is nearby also meet in Gainesville and/or Jacksonville. This will be a Weight Management program with seminars on The Psychology of Weight Management to be presented in Jacksonville in the coming months. In the future there will be a program on a 2 week Cruise for a Weight Management Program that continues afterwards with an online support group.
