Therapy is a collaborative journey of self discovery in that insight is developed and self awareness is increased. Along the journey ways of becoming unstuck are discovered and life situations become more manageable through the development of new perspectives and life skills. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I approach clients from a nervous system, attachment based and trauma informed perspective. I work with individuals who want to live a more embodied authentic life and have experienced developmental trauma, struggle with self-esteem, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and sexual and/or gender identity issues.

Because we are diverse beings with unique needs that require unique responses, my approach to psychotherapy draws from diverse techniques and philosophies, including Hakomi, Humanistic, Gestalt/Gestalt Dreamwork, Mindfulness, Somatic, Jungian/Dreamwork,
Attachment-Based
, Existential, Experiential, Bioenergetics, CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused, World Wisdom & Spiritual Traditions, Buddhist Psychology and Yoga Psychology.
How you see yourself might be deeply influenced by the emotional distress, negative thought patterns, or destructive and addictive behaviors you struggle with. However, as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist I believe these conditions cover up, rather than define, who you truly are. My unique approach to psychotherapy encourages a balanced integration of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing. I'd like to support you in creating optimal conditions for the safe, mindful, and deep exploration of your innate capacity for self-healing and radical transformation.

I am an
attachment-based
,Psychodynamic therapist and draw heavily from brain-body and art therapy techniques.
I work best with clients who are interested in deep reflective work, exploring how their early attachments, past relationships, and traumas impact their lives. I enjoy work that is creative and fluid and will often step outside the bounds of traditional talk therapy to help clients move through difficult barriers to healing such as emotional dysregulation, dissociation, and parts of self.

I utilize a broadly psychodynamic approach that blends
attachment-based
, Internal Family Systems, DBT, and narrative components to create a trauma-informed, holistic approach.
Welcome! I approach therapy as a collaborative process aimed at developing insight, acceptance, and trust in the self. Making changes outside often requires us to first look inward to listen and understand; when you are able to make sense of your internal world, you are better equipped to build the life you want from a place of centered awareness. Through our work together, we create a compassionate space to examine relational patterns, process trauma, and ultimately make a new story for you centered in healing.

My philosophy is "we have one life so live it". Sometimes this requires the help of a professional who can uncover what cannot be seen or provide a different perspective. Therapy is not meant to be long term. I aim to provide you with an improved sense of self and tools and skills you can use to live your best life. You are the expert on your life so together we develop a plan to assist you in getting the most out of it.

Sometimes we experience negative thoughts about ourselves causing anxiety and shame. Guilt weighs us down and robs the ability to be true to oneself. If you are open to exploring these issues and more, then you have the potential to gain inner peace and fulfillment in your life.

With 10 years of experience, I work with clients with a variety of mental health needs. I work with children as young as 3 in play-based therapy, addressing anxiety, behavioral issues, parenting needs and familial transitions. I also work with couples exploring pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, separation/divorce or co-parenting. I work with teens struggling with anxiety or depression as they navigate the realms of social media and pressures of GenZ. I also see many adult clients 1:1 who just need extra support in this season of life: whether from work stressors or family conflict or just wanting better mental wellness.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
